V/H/S: SCP is set to be the first feature length adaptation of the beloved community horror project.

'V/H/S' Franchise To Adapt SCP Foundation In Return To Theatres

The V/H/S franchise is heading back to the big screen after a series of digital-only releases, and this time they’re jumping in on the internet horror adaptation trend by adapting the SCP Foundation.

Joining Backrooms, Siren Head, The Mandela Catalogue, and more, SCP Foundation is the latest in a long line of internet horror stories, but this time its a much wider spanning canon with no one creator. SCP Foundation is a fictional organization tasked with categorizing and securely containing anomalies, whether that be creatures, or cursed objects, or magical locations. What makes the SCP Foundation different to other internet horror is that the SCP Foundation is a community created project. There are thousands of different characters and creatures in containment, making the SCP Foundation a vast source material for this upcoming adaptation.

V/H/S is an anthology franchise where each segment in each of these anthology films are framed as found footage. This conceptually matches the spirit of the SCP Foundation where each segment is created by a different director/writer, with an overarching segment that serves as the narrative function tying the projects together. In the SCP Foundation Universe, the narrative function that ties all these individual SCPs together is the Foundation itself, so the the suitability of the franchise is clear.

Some of the more famous SCPs include Infinite Ikea (SCP-3008), The Sculpture (SCP-173, which is contested to be the inspiration for Doctor Who‘s Weeping Angels), and The Shy Guy (SCP-96, a humanoid who hunts down anybody who sees its face, even in photos).

Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios are partnering to produce the film. Roy Lee and Steven Schneider will represent Spooky Pictures while Josh Goldbloom and Michael Schreiber also produce. Ben Ross and Rami Yasin are executive producers.
