DC Studios Releases Otherworldly Second ‘Lanterns’ Teaser Trailer
A new trailer for DC Studios’ Lanterns just dropped giving the fans what they’ve all been waiting for since March.
It’s been a little over two weeks since we learnt when Lanterns would premiere and over two months since we got our first teaser trailer for the series. Out of the blue on May 17th, 2026, DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn posted a short promo announcing that a new trailer for the series would debut the following day. The promo video which lasts for 7 Seconds shows John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) running from someone on the highway, his nose bleeding followed by Hal Jordan using a construct to block an incoming laser on a war torn planet. The following caption is also included:
“Danger is part of the job.
︀︀New #Lanterns teaser tomorrow.”
Also on the official Lanterns Instagram account, (@greenlantern), a select number of fans and content creators were able to access an exclusive story that showed additional footage from the series.
It’s May 18th, 2026 and the new trailer for Lanterns has just dropped. Today we’ll discuss the trailer which you can view below:
The trailer which lasts for nearly two minutes opens with Hal and John talking about how deserving Hal is of the ring, and shows him using constructs to both shield himself and create a counterfeit dollar to use in a machine. The trailer focuses on Hal’s legacy and how John used to look up to him as a Green Lantern.
The trailer also showed us first looks at Guy Gardner as Nathan Fillion, Laura Linney as an undisclosed character rumoured to be Carol Ferris and Ulrich Thomsen as Thaal Sinestro.
What Is ‘Lanterns’ About?

Lanterns follows Green Lantern, Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and Green Lantern in training, John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they investigate a murder in an American hometown. They two also face their own conflict as John believes he’s ready to wear the ring despit eHal’s disapproval. Read the official synopsis below:
“The series follows new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
Lanterns was first announced during the “DCU Chapter 1 – Gods & Monsters” video back in January 31st, 2023 where James Gunn mapped out the future of this new DC universe. Casting began much later with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre playing our titular heroes Hal Jordan and John Stewart respectively. The first trailer premiered on March 4th, 2026 and teased a conflict between our leading characters as John believes he’s ready to don the Lantern Ring much to Hal’s disapproval and by the end of April, we learnt that the eight-episode series will premiere on August 16th, 2026 through an announcement post from DC Studios Co-CEO, James Gunn.

Lanterns is created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. The series stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro and More. The series premieres on HBO and HBO Max on August 16th, 2026.
