‘Voltron’ Plot Details Revealed (Exclusive)

After wrapping production in the middle of 2025, Voltron is finally nearing release. It will feature Henry Cavill tackling a new IP role following his tenure as Superman and as Sherlock Holmes. We can reveal what that role is, and more, in our latest exclusive.

We here at Feature First can reveal the first official plot details for the upcoming Voltron movie.

After his mother’s death, a grieving Earth teen uncovers a devastating truth: she was a legendary Voltron pilot from Altea, secretly protecting the galaxy. When the tyrant Zarkon breaks free from imprisonment and launches a brutal assault on Altea, the grieving boy is thrust into her legacy—forced to pilot her lion and reunite Team Voltron. But haunted by self-doubt and repeated failures, he struggles to measure up… until he realises her true strength wasn’t in skill or tech, but in courage forged through loss. In order to save Altea—and honor her—he must find that same fire within himself.

The film is set to adapt the 1980s series Voltron, Defender of the Universe, which lasted 124 episodes and spun off into the giant media franchise that we know and love today.

‘Voltron’ Cast

We here at Feature First can also confirm that Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Mission: Impossible – Fallout) will be playing the King of Altea. We can also reveal that Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction, Paradise) will be playing Zarkon, the tyrant who will serve as the film’s villain.

Also starring in the movie is Daniel Quinn-Toye as the lead boy who inherits his mother’s Voltron lion pilothood, as well as Rita Ora, John Harlan Kim, Alba Baptista, Samson Kayo, Tharanya Tharan, Laura Gordon, Tim Griffin, and Nathan Jones.

The film is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who is best known for directing films such as Red Notice, We’re The Millers, Central Intelligence, and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, meaning this will likely be his largest-scale story yet.
