‘Presumed Innocent’ Season 2 Begins Filming With New Cast

When Presumed Innocent was released back in early 2024, audiences went wild for the show, where it fast became the streamer’s most watched drama, likely due to the high profile lead in Jake Gyllenhaal. A renewal for the show is unsurprising but also quite weird given where the first season left off, but when the news broke the series would be adapting an upcoming novel, Jo Murray’s Dissection of a Murder, it was clear the show is taking an anthology direction. Now, following the casting of Rachel Brosnahan in the lead role, with Matthew Rhys, Fiona Shaw, Courtney B. Vance, Jack Reynor, and John Magaro joining her, the series has officially begun production. Apple TV, the streamer behind Presumed Innocent, revealed in a video announcement that the series is officially in production as of December 18th, 2025, in Los Angeles, California, USA. According to the clapper seen in the video it seems Presumed Innocent Season 2 has been subtitled Presumed Innocent: Dissection of a Murder. Season 2 Episode 1 will be directed by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre and DP’ed by Tari Segal. de Clermont-Tonnerre is an indie director best known for her directorial debut The Mustang, which was co-written by Mona Fastvold and starred Matthias Schoenaerts. As for Segal, she recently served as cinematographer on an episode of Rian Johnson’s Poker Face for Peacock.

Presumed Innocent Season 2, alternatively Presumed Innocent: Dissection of a Murder, will be executive produced by David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel Rusch Rich, Dustin Thomason, Scott Turow, and Matthew Tinker. The season stars Rachel Brosnahan, Matthew Rhys, Fiona Shaw, Courtney B. Vance, Jack Reynor, John Magaro, Michael Hsu Rosen, and Lesley-Ann Brandt.

The series is expected to air in late 2026.
