Live Action ‘Tangled’ Shortlists Sarah Catherine Hook, Teagan Croft, Freya Skye and Olivia-Mai Barrett for Rapunzel

The second piece of Disney live-action remake news for the week comes in the form of a shortlist for Rapunzel and a shortlist for Flynn Rider, each collecting a group of actors and actresses and testing them for the role.

Michael Gracey is currently in the process of casting the leads of Tangled, the live-action remake of the 2010 film of the same name. The film tells the iconic tale of Rapunzel, the girl whose life is entrusted to an evil sorceress who imprisons her in a tower. Growing out her hair, her locks become the only entrance into the tower, and soon the thief Flynn Rider falls in love with her.

In the animated film, Rapunzel is played by Mandy Moore and Flynn Rider is played by Zachary Levi. Scarlett Johansson was previously in talks to play Mother Gothel, but she has since moved onto work in other roles, leaving the role uncast.

Who Is In The Rapunzel Shortlist For ‘Tangled’?

The shortlist for Rapunzel has just been revealed, and consists of five actresses, the first four have tested with chemistry tests in London earlier this week. Sarah Catherine Hook, Teagan Croft, Freya Skye and Olivia-Mai Barrett are all reportedly being considered for the role, as well as Lola Tung.

Sarah Catherine Hook is an American actress and singer best known for her role in The White Lotus Season 3 as well as playing Debbie Glatzel in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. Teagan Croft is an Australian actress best known for playing Raven in DC’s Titans. Freya Skye is an English singer and actress, best known for representing the UK in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022. Olivia-Mai Barrett is an English actress best known for her role as Penny Mendez in Penny on M.A.R.S. Lola Tung is best known for her lead role in The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Who Is In The Flynn Rider Shortlist For ‘Tangled’?

The shortlist for Flynn Rider was also revealed, and consists of three actors, all of which have tested. Milo Manheim, Charlie Gillespie, and Gilli Jones, are being considered for the role.

Milo Manheim is an American actor best known for his starring role as Zed in Disney’s Zombies. Charlie Gillespie is a Canadian actor best known for his role in this year’s Splitsville, where he played one of the many love interests of Adria Arjona’s Ashley. Gilli Jones has also tested for the role, and is a Scottish actor best known for his theatre roles.

The live action Tangled is being directed by Michael Gracey and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
