DC Studios Considering Mister Terrific and Jimmy Olsen Spin-Offs
Not even a day into its worldwide release, news regarding potential Superman spin-offs are starting to pop up.Â
With the release of Superman, critics and audiences are praising many characters in the movie and immediately are wondering where we will be seeing some of them next. We might already have an answer, barely following the start of release day, with reports alleging the possible development of two new DCU television series spinning off Superman: Mister Terrific and Jimmy Olsen.
The Wall Street Journal revealed earlier today that James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-CEOs of DC Studios, are currently considering making spin-offs of Superman revolving around Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific and Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen. In Superman, both Terrific and Olsen are key characters in the plot, with Terrific playing a key role in several fight sequences and being integral in saving the day, whilst Olsen works to obtain game-changing information to help Lois (Lois Lane) against Lex (Nicholas Hoult).
What Would Happen In a Mister Terrific or Jimmy Olsen Show?
Theoretically, if these projects were to begin scripting, a potential Mister Terrific series could follow his own unique team, The Terrifics. The series could also serve as an origin for Mister Terrific, who is shown to be a technological genius in Superman.
In a Jimmy Olsen series, they could potentially dive deeper into his love life, showing that he is an unwitting ladies man, where women swoon over him despite his nerdy appearance. The series could serve as a Daily Planet show, showcasing the daily lives of the reporters and journalists who work under Perry White (Wendell Pierce).
Superman currently does not have a direct follow-up publicly announced. The film, directed by James Gunn, stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.Â
Superman is now playing in theatres worldwide.
