‘Creature Commandos’ Episode 7 Breakdown

The episode opens in a hospital. We see Nina’s mother, Lily Mazursky (Joy Osmanski), giving birth to her. The nurse says, “It’s a… girl,” with a shocked look on her face. Nina’s father, Edward Mazursky (Gregg Henry), also looks in shock. We cut to another room in the hospital where Lily is on the floor crying. A nurse tells the parents that Nina is born with many irregularities, namely most of her lungs being outside her body, indicating that they don’t know how long they can keep her alive. Lily is disappointed, but the nurse suggests that Edward create something to keep Nina alive.
After the intro, we see Eric Frankenstein (David Harbour) in a car, talking about The Bride (Indira Varma), and by her very name, she belongs to him, complimenting all her various features. He talks about his plan to stop the bride from murdering Ilana (Maria Bakalova) and a terrified taxi driver named Ivan. At the castle, we see a guard searching for the Commandos. Weasel (Sean Gunn) jumpscares him, and The Bride finishes him off. We see Eric arrive at the castle while Nina casts her doubts on the plan, stating that what if killing the Princess amounts to nothing?
While looking for a way into the castle, the team learns about Clayface. Eric shouts to The Bride, causing her to shoot him and alert the guards of their presence. The team decides to go to the wall at the back of the garden, the least guarded place. The Bride finishes Eric off, and the team heads towards the garden as guards approach. In a flashback to Nina, Dr. Mazursky has developed a method to house Nina’s exposed lungs. Nina is seen playing with a toy, and Edward is happily observing while reading a Star City newspaper, which is the city that Oliver Jonas / The Green Arrow protects. Lily, however, exits the room in disgust.
In the kitchen, Lily expresses that this is not a way to live. Edward responds by saying she’s having fun. Lily continues casting her doubts while Edward suggests that he’ll keep finding solutions. Lily suggests that there’s still time to kill her, to which Edward feels offended, stating that Nina is their child. Lily remains upset and decides to stay with her mother for the time being. Back in the present day, Dr. Phosphorus takes out a guard and then breaches the wall. We flashback again to Edward taking an exhausted Nina to the park. He suggests that he’s found a new method to keep her alive.

We cut to a lab. Edward expresses that there are risks involved in the treatment, but it would mean that Nina wouldn’t have to wear the machine anymore. The treatment involves altering her DNA. A panic occurs as Nina appears to be suffering. Her physical form changes to represent an aquatic creature. Edward picks her up and hastily fills the sink. A fellow doctor says that he’s going to drown her, and she passes out for a bit in the water before waking up again. Back in the present day, Ilana is going for her morning swim while Sergei, the head guard (Julian Kostov), expresses his concern.
The team observes Ilana from the bushes. Weasel lets out a whimper before trying to get to Ilana, but Nina stops him. Another flashback occurs at a school. Edward is seen trying to enroll Nina into this school, Emberton Prep. Nina is excited to try out one of the sports, but it doesn’t go well. The enemy team begins to bully her; students in the hallway force her to say “Ribbit,” and they then proceed to laugh at her. We cut to Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) in a hospital room, and Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) wakes up. Waller asks him what happened, and he tells her that she was wrong about killing Illana. He warns her about Professor MacPherson. Waller calls John Economos (Steve Agee), asking for MacPherson’s address. We then cut back to a shot of a frog followed by the Team.
Weasel tries to approach Ilana again and is stopped. Nina asks how they intend to reach Ilana, and the Bride looks at her. We flashback again to Nina walking down the hallway at school. A boy smiles at her, and she’s flustered. Opening the locker, she sees a Frog, and the students around her laugh. We see Nina crying in her room. When Edward returns home and goes to her room, he finds a goodbye letter describing how she doesn’t fit in and feels like a burden to Edward. While this is happening, we also see Nina having fun as she swims in a pool. We cut back to the present day when The Bride suggests that Nina kill Ilana.
Nina is very hesitant until she eventually agrees and feels motivated by the team. Another flashback shows Nina catching a fish and eating it while someone photographs her. We then cut to Edward watching a news report about the Star City “Sea Creature.” He instantly recognizes the creature as Nina. We continue to transition between past and present as Nina swims towards Ilana. In the past, she’s captured by Scuba divers, and Edward pushes his way through to talk to her. The police shoot Edward, and Nina is shocked.

In the present, Waller visits the home of Professor MacPherson along with John, and they enter the home to find the remains of Clayface. They then find the dead body of MacPherson. Waller realizes they’ve been tricked and immediately calls Pokolistan. Nina approaches Ilana while Weasel continues to whimper. Nina readies the knife, but Weasel jumps in after believing that Ilana is the little girl from his past. Ilana manages to stop Nina and ends up killing her by stabbing her repeatedly. An upset Bride rushes into the pond and sees Nina’s body. Sergei gives Bride the walkie-talkie, and Waller says, “we’ve made a mistake.”
Later, we see Dr. Phosphorus heal the bite given to him by Weasel. Weasel is regarded as a hero by the guards. The Bride goes off on her own and runs into Ilana. She follows her into her office, where Ilana states she holds no grudges. Bride indicates that she believes in Circe’s vision, revealing that she knows about Clayface. The Bride reveals Ilana’s plan, hiring Clayface to cast doubts on Circe’s vision. Bride tells Ilana that she won’t kill her because she’s the cause of World War III nor to save the world. She’s killing Ilana because she killed Nina, her only friend.
With Ilana dead, The Bride urges Weasel and Dr. Phosphorus to leave with her immediately. Bride sheds some tears before we cut to Belle Reve. We see The Bride and John in the elevator. He says that Waller wants to express gratitude to The Bride for saving the day. John reveals that one of the abandoned wings in Belle Reve was reconstructed into a base for her team. The new team consists of Dr. Phosphorus, Nosferata, Khalis, Weasel, an upgraded GI Robot, King Shark (Diedrich Bader), and The Bride herself. John asks The Bride if she’s in, and she responds, “What else do I get to do?” with a smile, and the episode fades to black.
