‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Episode Lengths & More

First announced as Spider-Man: Freshman Year during the “Marvel Studios’ 2021 Disney+ Day Special”, the series was initially pitched to be an origin story for Peter Parker and describe how he becomes Spider-Man in the MCU. Jeff Trammell was also announced as the writer.

A year later, during SDCC 2022, we learned that season 2 was greenlit under the title Spider-Man: Sophomore Year. Some characters we’ll see were also teased, such as Norman Osborn, Daredevil, Amadeus Cho, Pearl Pangan, and more.

Ahead of the release of What If…? Season 2, we learnt that Spider-Man Freshman Year had been renamed to Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. It’s unclear how this change would impact the future of the series’ second season, originally titled Spider-Man: Sophomore Year.

What Is The Series About?

The series will see Peter Parker in his early days as the crime-fighting superhero Spider-Man. We also know that Norman Osborn would serve as Peter’s mentor in the series, a distinct branch of the story that we know from Captain America: Civil War, where Tony Stark recruits him to join his team.

The synopsis reads as follows:

The animated series follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, starting with his freshman year of high school, of course. Peter’s journey in the series will be unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.

A YFNSM prequel comic series is also in the works, which will allow viewers to see Peter Parker learn about his powers, decide on his name, create his first costume, and more. The five-issue limited series will be written by Christos Gage and drawn by Eric Gapstur. The first issue will be released on December 11th.

When Does Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Release?

YFNSM will premiere with two episodes on January 29th, 2025. New episodes will be released in parts until February 19th, 2025. The series will consist of ten episodes.

According to Cryptic4kQual, each episode of YFNSM will have a runtime of approximately 30 minutes, making the 10-episode series have a total runtime of about 300 minutes or 5 hours. See the runtimes for each episode below:
