The sequel to The Strangers: Chapter 1, The Strangers: Chapter 2 has finally received its first teaser trailer.
The first film in the new The Strangers trilogy, The Strangers: Chapter 1, was released back in May 2024 to poor reception, garnering poor ratings on both IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. The way the film was received led many to think the rest of the trilogy, The Strangers: Chapter 2 and The Strangers: Chapter 3 were in jeopardy. Suffice to say, these theories were unfounded, with the release of the first teaser trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 2.
The Strangers: Chapter 1 follows a young couple, Maya (Madelaine Petsch) and Ryan (Froy Gutierrez), on a road trip, who after their car breaks down, bunker down in a cabin in the woods they find. Soon, they’re stalked by the sinister Strangers: Scarecrow, Dollface, and Pin-Up Girl. The movie ended with Ryan being fatally stabbed and the police showing up to save Maya, who is later seen recovering in hospital. The film is largely seen as an indirect remake of the original 2008 film.
The new trailer continues with these threads, Maya is in hospital and soon leaves, before stopping a car on a road and getting in. Inside are four passengers, but everything is not as tranquil as it may seem, with Maya soon realizing that these strangers aren’t strangers at all, but the people behind the death of Ryan.
The Strangers: Chapter 2 is directed by Renny Harlin, written by Amber Loutfi, Alan Freedland, and Alan R. Cohen, and stars Madelaine Petsch. The film is currently undated but will be coming to theatres worldwide soon courtesy of Lionsgate.
