Here is a ranking of how we at Feature First think the top 30 films perform at the worldwide box office based on our predictions.

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

2026 is set to be a loaded year at the box office as there are set to be a lot of massive films year-round. Here is a ranking of how we at Feature First think the top 30 films perform at the worldwide box office based on our predictions.

Here are some honorable mentions:

  • Street Fighter
  • Flowervale Street
  • 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
  • Insidious: The Bleeding World
  • Sense and Sensibility
  • Send Help
  • The Social Reckoning

Bonus: ‘One Night Only’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $102M to $138M

We wanted to highlight a film that not many are expecting anything from, which we feel could potentially do some damage at the box office, even if it doesn’t end up in the top 30.

This is probably our biggest hot take, but this is a really interesting one to look at. By all accounts, this very well could be a nothing burger that is DOA at the box office, considering it’s a rom-com.

But what it has going for it is Will Gluck. That’s a name that might mean nothing to you, but he has proven he has the formula down for a crowd-pleasing rom-com. Easy A, Friends with Benefits, and Anyone But You are on his resume, and while those were majorly sold by their stars, it does feel like Universal could push this hard if it’s as crowd-pleasing as some of those. The script also topped The Black List 2024. There’s usually one rom-com that makes a decent amount of money, and we’re willing to hedge our bets on One Night Only.

30. ‘Scary Movie 6.’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $116M to $159M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

Scary Movie 6 is truly a wild card that could go right and wrong in so many ways. What films is this going to be spoofing in particular is a very important basis for the success of this film. What it does have going for it is that the Wayans brothers are returning and the films are a recognisable brand, and while it has a lot of competition, none of the films surrounding this film are similar enough for it to matter as much.

29. ‘Werwulf’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $121M to $164M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

Werwulf releases on Christmas and fills the void of an R-rated horror film that December lacks. It has heavy competition, but holiday legs should give it a boost coming off the heels of Nosferatu which also had fantastic holiday legs.

28. ‘Mortal Kombat II’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $128M to $178M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

The first Mortal Kombat was released day and date on HBO Max during the pandemic, and while this film doesn’t have the best release date, it should still improve the box office of the first by a decent amount. Regardless, it’s not a film we expect to do any crazy figures.

27. ‘Scream 7’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $136M to $189M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Scary Movie 6 / Image Courtesy of Paramount Pictures

This will most likely make somewhere in between Scream 5 and 6, which respectively made $138M and $166M. There’s a chance it does even better in Scream 6 or worse than Scream 5, but right in between feels to be a better sweet spot for the franchise.

26. ‘The Cat in the Hat’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $138M to $189M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

It’s hard to tell if this will do well with kids, but this being Dr Seuss’ most popular story should lend well to familiar audiences. It’ll likely lean more domestic-heavy than expected, but anywhere in this range wouldn’t be the worst figure.

25. ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $142M to $192M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

This should do well on the virtue of following Godzilla Minus One and having a worldwide release date from the start. We expect this one to do even better than the first.

24. ‘Focker In-Law ‘

Worldwide Box Office Range: $168M to $227M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

This is an interesting one, to say the least. The first three films in the franchise grossed $330M then $522M then $310M. It’s been almost 16 years since the last one and it’s hard to tell how culturally relevant the trilogy is, which is very important for a comedy. It helps that this film added Ariana Grande to it’s cast, so it shouldn’t do too badly.

23. ‘Masters of the Universe’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $170M to $230M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

Masters of the Universe sadly feels like another Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, where it delivers a fun film that audiences enjoy, but it doesn’t get them to the theater especially with a release date that isn’t great. Amazon should push this hard, so maybe if they can get just enough people to the theater, maybe legs could save it.

22. ‘”Wuthering Heights”‘

Worldwide Box Office Range: $172M to $233M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

Releasing on Valentine’s Day this year, this feels like a movie that will do really well opening weekend. It’s unclear if this will yield a massive international audience, but we do imagine it will do very well domestically.

21. ‘Digger’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $193M to $262M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

Tom Cruise hasn’t had to sell an original film since Knight & Day all the way back in 2010, which made $261.9 million but it was a different time. With Iñárritu at the helm, maybe this film can deliver an audience pleaser that Tom Cruise can sell, especially considering it has PLFs locked down. It helps that WB has been able to sell original films quite well in 2025.

20. ‘Clayface’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $196M to $265M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

On a modest budget of $40M, Clayface will do well. The horror audience is pretty reliable for a film like this if they can sell their audience on the body horror aspect well enough.

19. ‘Verity’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $223M to $300M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

This probably won’t do as well as It Ends With Us but it does feel like another Colleen Hoover win is coming here. It has a good wide-open date with Anne Hathaway (who should be coming off two other massive films), Josh Hartnett, and Dakota Johnson to sell it.

18. ‘Disclosure Day’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $244M to $330M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

It’s hard to gauge how much Spielberg’s name sells a film these days, but this is his first truly commercial film this decade, and sci-fi is his bread and butter. Regardless, it does feel hard to expect this to do big numbers at this time unless word of mouth is very strong.

17. ‘Supergirl’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $255M to $345M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Supergirl / Image Courtesy of DC Studios

Perhaps this is a hot take, but we do think Supergirl flops at the box office. As unfortunate as it would be for the DCU, it feels inevitable considering the competition this film has. Toy Story 5 comes out the week before, and Minions 3 comes the week after, with Moana not too soon after. There are too many family films surrounding it to see big numbers for this. This could still do a decent figure if word of mouth is strong, which is always possible.

16. ‘Resident Evil’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $265M to $359M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

Weapons grossed $269M, which is no small feat as an original film. This should, at the very least, do better than that, with the hype of the video game helping it. How much higher it goes is certainly a question that is tough to answer, but we do think it does well.

15. ‘Hoppers’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $298M to $402M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

It’s been a very long time since an original animated film has done great numbers. The closest has been Elemental, which thrived at the international box office.

There is no question Hoppers does better than Elio, but with the struggle to get the audience into the theaters for an original movie, it feels hard to bet that this will be the one that turns the tide.

14. ‘Project Hail Mary’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $359M to $486M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Masters of the Universe / Image Courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios

This is a film that lives and dies by its reception. We do think this film will be good, which will certainly be in its favor in that regard, but it doesn’t feel like a massive blockbuster opener. It doesn’t have much competition in its category, which should help its legs. There’s a chance this film does The Martian numbers, even if that’s not what I would wager at this time.

13. ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $376M to $508M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

While The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes did great, we do feel this one will do better, considering the book brings back certain original characters who are reportedly in this film will help this film. It’s also much closer in proximity to the original films than Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes was.

Regardless, there does feel to be a ceiling on this film, which isn’t going to break the box office but should make some money for Lionsgate if the budget isn’t too crazy.

12. ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $403M to $546M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

This is a tough film to gauge at this stage. Pros: It has Grogu who audiences clearly adore; it is the return to Star Wars in a theater so it should bring back their loyal audience.

Cons: It’s a sequel to a TV show, which doesn’t usually translate well; It hasn’t shown to have a hook just yet; Quality?

We went with it, grossing a decent amount but nothing special, partly because of the lack of hook thus far. Yes, it’s the return to Star Wars theatrically, but it doesn’t feel that way when you watch the marketing. It feels like another Mandalorian episode so the question is, will people pay whatever a ticket costs in their locale to go watch that?

11. ‘Devil Wears Prada 2’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $489M to $662M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

The gross of Devil Wears Prada might not blow you away but what it does have which we feel will propel this sequel very high, is the cultural relevance the film still has. It is a massively popular film that should translate to help the sequel bring in a female audience, both young and old.

10. ‘Untitled Jumanji: The Next Level sequel’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $586.5M to $793.5M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Jumanji 4 / Image Courtesy of Sony Pictures

Jumanji 4 has a release date that puts it very close to Doomsday and Dune, which may impact it, but regardless, this film will do well. At this time, if everything stays as is we do expect it to do worse than the first two films, but regardless, this would be a massive win for the franchise.

9. ‘Dune: Part Three’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $722M to $978M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Dune: Part Two / Image Courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures

Dune: Part Three, if it doesn’t move, is in a fascinating position because it has the same date as Avengers: Doomsday, which will impact Dune more than it does Doomsday. Regardless, December has enough to hold the weight of both of these films, especially since the legs for this film should be good.

Dune: Messiah is less well-received than the first book, but Denis, as always, will likely deliver a great film. This is a franchise that has only built up hype as it has gone along, which is why we do expect this film to do better than the second.

8. ‘Minions 3’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $733M to $992M

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Minions: Rise of Gru / Image Courtesy of Illumination

Both Despicable Me 4 and Minions: Rise of Gru got close but never hit the billion mark. It feels unlikely for Minions 3 to hit that mark but it’ll likely get close again.

One potential issue for the film is that is 12 days after Toy Story 5 and 9 days before Moana, two family films we expect to do big numbers, which may impact Minions 3 to some degree.

7. ‘Toy Story 5’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $831M to $1.09B

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Toy Story 5 / Image Courtesy of Pixar

As with everything Pixar, their sequels are always their biggest winners, and the Toy Story brand is very strong. This should be a slam dunk.

Both Toy Story 3 and 4 grossed a little over a billion, so it’s hard to bet against Toy Story 5, which should get close to that mark, barring a collapse in qualit,y which would impact its legs.

6. ‘The Odyssey’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $858M to $1.1B

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
The Odyssey / Image Courtesy of Universal Pictures

There are only so few directors whose names could advertise a film as much as Nolan’s does. The Odyssey is described as a mythical action epic, which will only help its appeal with the blockbuster audience.

The Odyssey will almost surely be a success no matter how you spin it. Nolan is coming off Oppenheimer which grossed nearly a billion but The Odyssey, by all metrics, is a different beast. If this film is well-received, the sky is the limit. There’s a world this becomes Nolan’s highest-grossing film, crossing The Dark Knight Rises even if that shouldn’t be the expectation.

5. ‘Moana’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $902M to $1.15B

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Moana / Image Courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures

The original animated Moana has been the most-streamed film in the United States for both 2023 and 2024 while Moana 2 was the most-streamed during the first half of 2025. This is a massive IP, and it does make financial sense that they made this live-action adaptation. It will likely make big bucks.

4. ‘Michael’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $1.08B to $1.37B

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Michael / Image Courtesy of Lionsgate

This is a tricky one, partly because of the circumstances of the film. The third act of the film was reportedly re-worked heavily due to legal reasons and it’s still unclear if there will be a part 2 or not.

Despite all of that, we do believe Michael will be a smash hit because it’s about the biggest pop star the world has ever seen. No musical biopic demands as much attention as MJ’s does.

3. ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $1.21B to $1.49B

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide

This feels like the easiest bet to make a billion. This will likely make what the first film made +/- $100M, which will be a massive win.

2. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $1.3B to $1.6B

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
f

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is following up the most successful Spider-Man film ever so it has big shoes to fill. It’s been 5 years, which may actually end up helping the hype for this plus it’s a new beginning to some degree for Holland’s Peter Parker. It will almost surely go down from what No Way Home made which by all intents and purposes, was an anomaly ushered by bringing the Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire back. We do know this film will have both the Hulk and Punisher who should help at the very least.

Regardless, the Spidey brand is as strong as ever before and making even $1.3B would be a massive win and would easily further the gap as the most successful solo franchise ever. The only issue for this film is no premium screens and the release date being at the dead end of summer but this likely won’t matter too much in the end as it’ll likely open high enough to not need major legs.

1. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Worldwide Box Office Range: $1.55B to $1.9B

2026 Box Office Predictions: Ranking The Top 30 Films Worldwide
Avengers: Doomsday / Image Courtesy of Marvel Studios

Doomsday is probably the least surprising film to see at the top of this list. The future of Marvel rests on the performance of this film—a film that could end up being the most expensive ever made. There does seem to be hype building up for this film through the mini teasers. The film is bringing back a lot of familiar faces, which should help the performance. The most expensive of which is Robert Downey Jr., who largely feels like he’s getting paid $75M purely to market the film and get folks to the theaters. Luckily for them this will likely end up working, barring this film not being received well by audiences.

If this film does fall into this range, especially the upper end, it’s hard not to consider it a massive win even if it ends up lower than Infinity War. It would set up Secret Wars well to do even better.
