Yet another development behind the scenes of Blade has surfaced online. In a new report from TheWrap’s Umberto Gonzalez, we have learned that Lovecraft Country director Yann Demange has left the Marvel Studios production.

According to Gonzalez, the departure was reportedly amicable and took place a while ago (mid-March of this year, as per Jeff Sneider). Alternatively, Sneider adds that one source of his tells him star Mahershala Ali (Green Book, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse) “grew frustrated” with the director who according to Sneider is notoriously considered “a talented director who’s difficult to work with.”

Additionally, it is reported that Eric Pearson (Black Widow, Thor: Ragnarok) has now been attached as a writer to the film alongside Michael Green. Green is rumoured to be the writer of Marvel Studios’ Midnight Sons film, which is produced by Stephen Broussard and will reportedly follow the hero Blade himself.

Blade currently stars Mahershala Ali as Blade, and Mia Goth as an undisclosed character. The film has no director but will be written by Michael Green (Green Lantern, Logan) and Eric Pearson. It is currently scheduled for a November 2025 release.
