‘Widow’s Bay’ Scores Emmy Win Record

Apple TV has scored big at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards with their comedy series Widow’s Bay achieving an impressive 14 wins across 19 nominations, breaking a record.

Widow’s Bay is now the proud holder for the most Emmy Awards won for a single season of a comedy show, surpassing 2025’s The Studio, also produced by Apple TV.

The series achieved wins in the following major categories: Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (for Matthew Rhys), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (for Stephen Root), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (for Kate O’Flynn), Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (for Hiro Murai), and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (for Katie Dippold).

Created by Katie Dippold, the show follows a mayor who tries to convince the locals of his small island that the town is not haunted, but becomes increasingly convinced of the paranormal activities himself.

In her acceptance speech, Dippold thanked Apple TV, her crew, cast, boyfriend Drew Crevello, and the US state of Massachusetts, in which the series was filmed.

“Truly, this is awesome,” the Emmy-winner said.

It was a big night overall for Matthew Rhys, who walked away with two leading performance prizes, one for his role as Mayor Tom Loftis in Widow’s Bay and the other for the Nile Jarvis character in The Beast In Me.

It means that Rhys has earned two more records with the help of Widow’s Bay, making him the first actor to earn two leading performance awards at the same ceremony, as well as being the first ever male actor to have all three major performing prizes.
