‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 10 Review: Mommy Issues
Another week, another episode of The Pitt. Here is our review for The Pitt Season 2 Episode 10 which is out now.
Hour 10 of The Pitt picks back up at 4:00 PM for Season 2, Episode 10; here is our review for it.
Episode 9 ended with a news broadcast showing the aftermath of an accident at the water park where people got hurt and even killed. Episode 10 picks back up with the ER dealing with some of those patients who come in on a helicopter. One of the patients has lost her leg in the accident, which horrifies Ogilvie, who is handed the leg while at the dock.
A lot of conversations this season have been about the normalcy (or the lack of it) of what they do at the Pitt. Last week it was Emma and Dana, and this week Ogilvie and Robby have that same conversation. We also see the effects it has on the doctors. Last season had the biggest wrench possible thrown on the first day for a lot of the characters we met, which was the Pitt Fest. This season the cyber shutdown has done the same for the newer doctors. While these are both anomalies, it’s not unfair to say that the job we see them do has to account for things like that to happen. It’s just bad luck it’s happening on their first days.

What’s most curious about this episode is the mommy issue angle the episode goes for. Dr. Mohan has a panic attack, which was caused by her mom constantly contacting her during her shift. We saw it in earlier eps, but this time her mom calls through the hospital’s phone, which she avoids. She’s also stressed with her uncertain future job-wise, so the panic attack is an amalgamation of that, patients and her mother. Another angle to the mommy issues is Javadi, who has another unpleasant conversation with her mother.
To contrast all that, we also had Dr. McKay’s patient with terminal cancer, Roxie Hamler, spend what could be her final moments with her sons and family. In general this has been a really well-written storyline about someone who knows that they’re going to die sometime in the near future coming to terms with it with the harsh reality of leaving your kids behind. It’s a heartbreaking storyline that’s been done really well.
We also see more frustration build up for Santos as she interacts with Langdon. It’s made clear that she’s been talking about him to Dr. Garcia privately, which she clearly isn’t interested in. She wants her to go deal with it with Langdon, which could make for something interesting in the coming episodes.

Perhaps the most baffling decision this season is that they don’t show Mel’s deposition. For something they’ve been teasing for the entire season, it’s not unfair to say it makes no sense now to show it. I completely understand that what goes on in the hospital is all they’re willing to show (other than the finale), but for them to be teasing it and all we get is exposition about how it went makes no sense.
I’m not sure what else they can do with that storyline, but making it such a massive part of Mel’s arc this season feels like a waste. Maybe the rest of the episodes can correct this somehow, but as of right now it’s a very frustrating decision.
All in all, it’s an alright episode of The Pitt. It doesn’t quite have anything as hooking as the last few episodes, but it’s far from bad. The Mel thing is the only frustrating aspect in my opinion.
