Possibly one of the most chaotic trailers of the year, the first teaser trailer for Kitao Sakurai’s Street Fighter film has been released. Utterly batshit is the only accurate way to describe the 45 second long teaser originating at The Game Awards, featuring looks at nearly every cast member and incredibly vibrant, the teaser is quick, snappy, and to the point. Watch it below:

The film stars Andrew Koji as Ryu and Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, two Street Fighters who are pulled back into combat when Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament, pitting them against a wide variety of Fighters.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!

The film also stars Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Jason Momoa, David Dastmalchian, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Andrew Schulz, Eric André, Vidyut Jammwal, Olivier Richters, Orville Peck, Hirooki Goto, Mel Jarnson, Rayna Vallandingham, Alexander Volkanovski, and Kyle Mooney.

The film adapts the 1987 Capcom arcade game of the same name, which first inspired a film adaptation with 1994’s Street Fighter, starring legendary martial arts star Jean Claude Van Damme and the late Raul Julia. That film took itself seriously, something this upcoming adaptation seems to be foregoing for a more campy tone.

The film only wrapped production a few weeks ago, making this short teaser a bit of a feat, considering the wide variety of completed scenes shown off to the public. It’s clear the Kitao Sakurai film is going all out, and the post-production team must be working furiously behind-the-scenes.

Character posters for the film were also released, which you can view in the thread below:
