‘Splatoon Raiders’ Launches Exclusively On Nintendo Switch 2

A new post from the Nintendo Today news app has given us our first look at the latest entry in the Splatoon franchise. Splatoon Raiders is a seemingly single-player focused adventure featuring the members of Deep Cut. Deep Cut, first introduced in Splatoon 3 is a band which consists of Shiver, Frye and Big Man. They host the Anarchy Splatcast which provides the latest news on stages and modes.

In the Splatoon 3 campaign mode, Deep Cut starts off as antagonists before turning over a new leaf in the finale. While they are presenters by day, the trio work as bandits stealing treasure, selling it and distributing it amongst the poor while keeping some for themselves. We received a new “Research Report from Squid Research Lab” for the upcoming spinoff which has been confirmed to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 with no release date attached and new content coming to Splatoon 3. What Happens In The Splatoon Raiders Teaser

The trailer opens with a helicopter flying to a place the pilot refers to as the “Spirhalite Islands”, the members of Deep Cut are the passengers, Frye describes the islands as a rumor which Big Man mentions a map which the trio found in a basement. There’s also an article on the islands which Shiver refers to. During that conversation we see glimpses of the map, as they get closer a mysterious glow appears at the center of the island before a beam is shot up into the sky causing a Tornado that the helicopter gets trapped in.

We cut to a shot of a ship that the members of Deep Cut reside on all in fishing gear, we then cut to our protagonist, an inkling girl who’s primary color is teal. We see her interacting with the members of Deep Cut and exploring the island with a robot companion of sorts who resembles a submarine. The final scene of the trailer involves the members of Deep Cut when they first crash landed on the outskirts of the islands looking at the tornado, followed by a mysterious shot of a creature’s eyeball.

Nintendo’s official synopsis reads: In the role of a mechanic, players will go on an adventure in the mysterious Spirhalite Islands alongside the splat-tacular Deep Cut trio.

Additionally, the color scheme of the logo is quite interesting as it’s the same color scheme used for the horde game mode, Salmon Run, which is featured in both Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3.

There is no release date given for Splatoon Raiders, but we know that it will launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2.

What’s New In Splatoon 3

The Research Report also introduced new content coming to Splatoon 3 in its 10.0.0 patch, which drops on June 12th. This patch features 30 weapons (15 each) from two brands, Barazushi and Emberz of the Splatlands Collection. See a breakdown of the weapons below.

The freshness level of weapons will also be raised from five stars to ten with new badges based on the number of weapons at four stars or higher will be added.

S-rank or higher players who join the Anarchy Battle (Series) will now have a new stat called Series Weapon Power, measured per weapon which will influence matchmaking by queuing you with players of a similar power level.

Your top 9 weapons with the highest Series Weapon Power will now be displayed on the SplatNet 3 app which can be accessed through the Nintendo Switch app. You can also view the Series Weapon Power for each weapon as well as your Best Nine rankings based on the total power of your nine.

Urchin Underpass returns from the original Splatoon game with a few improvements; it will be added to the map rotation with the launch of the update.

Finally, Nintendo Switch 2 users will also see an improved frame rate and resolution with the new update, mouse controls will not be enabled. Cross-play between Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 will also be enabled.

Splatoon Raiders is developed by Nintendo, the game is coming soon exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
