Ralph Fiennes Eyed For Role In ‘Hunger Games’ Prequel
Ralph Fiennes reportedly has an offer to take on the role of Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
First shared by scooper DanielRPK and independently confirmed by us, it is now being reported that Ralph Fiennes will likely be the next actor to take on the role of Coriolanus Snow, as he has received a formal offer from Lionsgate to take on the part in the movie adaptation of Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
He would become the third actor to portray the iconic character after Donald Sutherland in the original quadrilogy and Tom Blyth in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Each performance has captured a different phase of Snow’s life: Blyth portrayed a cunning, ambitious young man still shaping his ideology, while Sutherland embodied the icy, calculating dictator at the height of his power. Fiennes now steps in to bridge that gap, playing Snow in his middle years, likely as he consolidates his rule and manipulates the 50th Hunger Games to serve his growingly evil agenda – it’ll be quite the shift from the last time we saw Snow.
This stage of Snow’s life has never been seen on screen, so Fiennes has the opportunity to redefine him and reveal what happens when idealism fully decays into tyranny. With his background in theatre and having played famous on-screen villains before, most notably Voldemort, Fiennes definitely has the range and experience to take on this character and make him his own.
With The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes showing us his beginnings, Sunrise on the Reaping could further develop how the Capitol manipulates narratives and fosters fear to maintain control, adding more political intrigue and personal drama to the franchise, which already has the action side covered.
The chance to revisit the Games from a different lens, during a time when the rules are even more twisted, opens the door for a fresh visual and emotional tone that could separate this film stylistically and thematically from the others.

It has also been reported by Nexus Point News that Charlie Plummer is being eyed to play the leading role of Haymitch in the movie, though no formal offer has been made. If accepted, it would be his first major role in a Hollywood blockbuster.
There’s a strong possibility this will not only be an intense arena story, but also a layered study of how a society such as this shapes people – which is most notably seen through how Snow changes movie to movie, but will also be showcased by seeing a wildly different Haymitch than the one we’re familiar with, played by Woody Harrelson.
