Predator Rumoured To Appear in ‘Alien: Romulus’ Sequel

According to a recent report, a Predator is rumoured to play a role in the sequel to the 2024 hit Alien: Romulus, hinting at a future crossover between the franchises

Hot off the heels of the release of the Predator: Badlands trailer, more news has circulated regarding the future of the franchise and its potential crossover with Alien, and we could see some of that in action as soon as the Alien: Romulus sequel.

According to industry insider InSneider, a Predator is included in Fede Alvarez’s script for his Alien: Romulus sequel.

This comes right after the Predator: Badlands trailer was released and featured a pretty clear Alien easter egg. In a scene in which Elle Fanning’s Thia appears to be washed up, damaged and de-comissioned, or simply acting off, her eyes go white in a very similar way to Andy from Alien:Romulus. When you zoom in on her eyes, you can see the logo for Weyland – Yutani, a famous company in the Alien universe that commissions these robots and other space tech. The trailer then seemingly confirms that Badlands is in the same universe as the new, modern-era Alien films.

The recent, modern entries have shown a tonal and stylistic maturity, with Prey receiving critical acclaim for its stripped-down, character-focused approach, and Romulus delivering a return to the gritty, claustrophobic horror roots that defined Ridley Scott’s original.

These successes have clearly reignited fan enthusiasm in a more serious, well-crafted revival of the AVP mythology that sees the two creatures pit against each other.

What makes this especially significant is that it wouldn’t just be a gimmick—it would come on the heels of strong, standalone instalments (Prey for Predator, and Romulus for Alien) that have proven there’s still plenty of life and cinematic weight in each universe.

It’s a smart move for 20th Century Studios, too. With shared universes and crossovers being proven crowd-pleasers (when done well), a calculated build-up to a full-blown Alien vs. Predator event could be both a creative win and a financial juggernaut. And if this rumour ends up being true, it might just be the beginning of a whole new chapter in one of sci-fi cinema’s most iconic rivalries.

Using their own movies to re-establish the characters to a new generation and audience before slowly bringing them together is proving to be the right way to go forward with these franchises and we can only hope that the quality remains consistent with future instalments.
