In the comics, Lance Gallant is Captain Triumph. Lance Gallant is created by Alfred Andriola and first appears in Crack Comics #27 (January, 1943).

Lance and his twin brother, Michael Gallant were born in New York City in 1919. What’s interesting about this duo was the fact that they were extremely alike, even down to a T-shaped birthmark on their left wrists.

During the Second World War, Michael enlisted in the US Army Air Corps, becoming a pilot. On his 23rd birthday, Michael was injured in an explosion when landing his plane in the hangar. Which his fiancée, Kim Meredith, and his brother Lance understood was sabotage. They rushed into the burning building to save him but he ultimately died in Lance’s arms.

Lance was determined to avenge his brother’s death. This event was observed by the creatures of myth known as the Fates who decided to create a champion. Some time later, Lance encountered Michael’s ghost who explained that the two were linked and touching his birthmark would merge the two giving them superpowers, with them unmerging after touching the birthmark again. With his newfound powers, Lance became a crimefighter known as Captain Triumph.

As Captain Triumph, Lance is capable of Invulnerability, Flight and Invisibility. Additionally he is able to change his physical appearance. Lance is also skilled in Aviation.

In the DCU, Captain Triumph is an armored superhero with seemingly no connections to Lance Gallant. Instead, Christopher Smith’s brother, Keith Smith, holds the mantle.

During episode one in the alternate dimension, Chris exits his Dad’s house and encounters a stranger arriving home, we quickly learn that this is Chris’ brother, Keith Smith who’s alive in this dimension (he died at a young age in the main universe). Auggie walks in on Chris and Keith, with the “three amigos” together he calls for a celebration. Keith messes with Chris and the three share a wholesome moment together, remembering when Chris was chased by Imps. Auggie heads to bed and Keith tells Chris about his ex, Chris tells Keith he loves him before Keith calls it a night.

In Episode 2, Keith appears offscreen helping his father Auggie find Chris ,who they think is missing.

At the start of Episode 3, Keith wakes up our Chris. Keith asks where he’s been and why there’s blood in the library. When Chris mentions that he’s hungover, Keith immediately begins to worry and asks if it’s just alcohol, the parallel universe’s Chris appears to have a substance abuse problem. Keith tells Chris he’ll fix up some breakfast and leaves.

Keith is making eggs, confused about where Chris is heading. Chris quizzes Keith about where Emilia works and whether he can borrow his truck. Though confused, he willingly answers. That’s when Keith reveals to our Chris that he has a Peacecycle.

While Chris and Emilia are catching up, we see a mural of Peacemaker, White Dragon and Keith’s alter-ego, Captain Triumph.

During the Sons of Liberty attack, Captain Triumph steps in to take out the escape helicopter. He and Chris celebrate the victory. Back at the house, Keith has a heart-to-heart with Chris, acknowledging that Chris has been disappearing more than usual and brings up his fear that Chris is using pills again. He expresses that he won’t judge Chris for anything he does and that he’s there for him.
