‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Episode 6 Confirms Nazi Fan Theory

Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 just confirmed a sinister fan theory about Earth X

Well folks, the time has finally come for the final three episodes of Peacemaker Season 2, three episodes James Gunn is touting as vital for the setup of his next film Man of Tomorrow. If you have seen the first five episodes of the season, you can see why as the 11th Street Kids band together to bring Peacemaker back from the alternative dimension, which he fled to at the end of episode five hoping to find true love.

Episode 6 directly follows this, and as the episode plays out a very prominent fan theory was confirmed.

What Was The ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Earth X Nazi Fan Theory?

Peacemaker Season 2 prominently features an alternative universe. Thematically, it was largely used as an out for Peacemaker’s character showcasing his wants, and his depression at living in the main universe. But something seemed out of place to fans.

Fans initially jumped to theories about the universe being a version of the comics Earth X, which depicted a timeline where the Nazis won World War II. The jump was a product of the show showing zero people of colour in that universe. This in combination with the fact Peacemaker’s father was alive and heralded as a hero.

In addition to this, many audience members also pointed out that you cannot see the blue portion of the American flag when the flag is depicted in the episodes. Fans theorized that there would be a swastika or no stars, if a reveal were to happen. Lucky for those audience members, it did.

What Happens At The End Of ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Episode 6?

At the end of Peacemaker Season 2, a variety of sequences occur over the same time period, leading to a wide variety of realizations. The first, Vigilante realises that his alter-universe self is arch enemies with Peacemaker 2. The second Harcourt and Peacemaker 1 are in ARGUS and feel as if something is wrong and Harcourt points out there is only white people before uncovering an American flag and find a swastika in place of the stars. The third, Leota Adebayo, takes a walk and finds many people staring at her, and when Keith Smith (aka Captain Triumph) drives past he alerts everyone that “one of them has escaped… A black!” and Ads begins running away from an angry mob of nazis.

This episode recontextualises the Sons of Liberty, a group we considered as terrorists, as revolutionaries, fighting for the freedom of people of colour. Since Vigilante 2 is part of this group, it is obvious that this is one of the driving factors behind their organization.

Peacemaker Season 2 stars John Cena as Christopher Smith / Peacemaker, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase / Vigilante, David Denman as Keith Smith / Captain Triumph, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith / The Blue Dragon, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.

Peacemaker Season 2 Episodes 7 and 8 will be released over the course of the next two weeks. Watch the first 14 episodes of the series below on HBO Max.
