New Villains Revealed for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
At a recent event for upcoming projects, Disney has reportedly revealed some new characters that will appear in their next Spider-Man movie.
During a recent Disney presentation on Consumer Products, it has been reported by one of the attendees that footage was shown for some upcoming projects, including Avengers: Doomsday and The Mandalorian & Grogu as well as a few details on other films.
One of these was Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which, according to @trusthigashi on Instagram, was announced to feature the villains, Scorpion, Boomerang and Tombstone.
Rather than aiming for another multiverse-level epic, this lineup suggests the MCU is re-centring Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as a more grounded, street-level hero, focused on protecting his neighbourhood from smaller-scale, yet still dangerous, threats. It’s a refreshing return to form for Spider-Man and brings him closer to the comic books than he has even been in this universe. Some of his most enduring stories often come from balancing everyday life with battling low-level crime, so seeing more of this explored would definitely highlight everyone’s favourite aspects of the character.

Scorpion, last seen in live action portrayed by Better Call Saul’s Michael Mando, has been absent from the narrative for a while, so his inclusion would feel like a long-awaited payoff. Scorpion is one of Spider-Man’s more physically dangerous adversaries, and even if he isn’t the central villain, having him resurface shows a commitment to continuity and deepening the street-level rogues’ gallery. Of course, we all know what this could be leading to and a small appearance here could lead to a bigger team-level appearance in the future.
Tombstone has risen in popularity recently thanks to his prominent role in the Spider-Man PS4 game. His being in the movie could hint at a larger organised crime presence brewing, one echoing the story that Kingpin has in Daredevil and subsequent shows.
Tombstone may not be flashy, but he’s formidable and could become a major recurring antagonist, especially if the series explores crime families or the power vacuum left in the city post-Kingpin (if the universes begin to align more with Daredevil and Echo).
it’s likely that none of these characters will be the film’s central antagonist. Their presence suggests either a narrative filled with interconnected subplots, or a series of early-film encounters that show Spider-Man juggling multiple small-time threats – akin to the opening of Spider-Man 2, Homecoming or even as is rumoured for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Tom Holland, Zendaya and Sadie Sink. The film hits theatres on July 31st, 2026.
