Eyes of Wakanda was announced back in December 2023 with footage in a sizzle reel featuring numerous projects from Marvel Animation. Todd Harris serves as showrunner and director with Ryan Coogler attached as an executive producer. The series promises to be the first MCU Canon show from Marvel Animation set in different time periods on the 616 Timeline.

Footage of the upcoming series first originated in the Marvel Look Ahead video which featured footage and release dates followed by a thirty-second sneak peek of Eyes of Wakanda on July 1st, featuring numerous characters (one which even uses a Vibranium Gauntlet) of sorts and locations found in Wakanda.

Meanwhile, those who attended the 2025 Annecy Film Festival got an exclusive look at the first episode of the series which revolves around former Dora Milaje member, Noni (Winnie Harlow) who joins a new group known as the Hatut Zaraze. The series also had its fair share of release date shifts before finally settling on August 1st. Showrunner Todd Harris officially revealed the new date in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The trailer opens with Lion (Cress Williams) marching alongside a few other characters as his followers bow down to him. We see a shot of who we assume is Noni (Winnie Harlow) accompanied by a group of Dora Milaje the narrator continues. A hooded Noni watches a ship in the distance, she grabs daggers. During those scenes the narrator says “Wakanda is a kingdom of many secrets”. We see Memnon (Larry Herron) looking at the moon followed by one of Lion’s ships. Noni is seen leaping underneath the boardwalk and attacks a guard. Noni approaches Lion on his ship, we see a montage of various characters who will appear in the series.

We see Memnon with a group of Greek soldiers hiding in what seems like a Trojan Horse. Memnon and an unknown character appear behind guards and capture them, likely to disguise themselves. Memnon jumps from a rooftop and grabs onto a wall using his daggers. We see the Trojan Horse enter the building. We see a new character in chinese attire exiting his room followed by a brief glimpse of two Dora Milaje soldiers. Noni is seen approaching Lion’s ship via a smaller boat. A new character who could be the current queen of Wakanda during that era tells someone offscreen to “Be a Ghost”, we then see a ship followed by someone in high-tech armor uncloaking themselves, they appear to be a Black Panther.

A plane flies across a lush, green landscape followed by Lion and Noni fighting. Memnon is seen sitting by a lake, followed by someone saying “The time to act is now”, Memnon grasps an amulet. We see the Black Panther from earlier unmasked accompanied by some Dora Milaje guards. One of Lion’s guards jumps from the boat, ready to attack and we transition to a Dora Milaje attacking an unidentified creature.

We see Noni looking at a building built into a waterfall, Memnon is seen using a gauntlet which appears to be powered by Vibranium. Fighting occurs over different time periods and Noni is almost shot with an arrow. We get our first look at the Iron Fist (Jona Xiao) followed by Lion using his spear which seems to be another Vibranium artifact. He stops an axe with his hand, some form of purple lightning is then emitted from his hand. Two characters stand in front of a giant monster in fear. A dragon-like creature shoots a beam of energy, another version of the Black Panther shouts “Wakanda Forever!” and takes the full might of the blast to defend some other people.

The official synopsis is as follows:
