Netflix Geeked Week Recap: Days 1-3

The Netflix ultimate fan event, Geeked Week is back for its fourth year. The event running from September 16th, 2024 to September 19th, 2024 will give all the latest updates on Netflix’s upcoming shows, movies, games and more. Before the live event at 4PM PT / 7PM ET let’s recap the reveals that dropped earlier this week.

First Trailer for The Remarkable Life of Ibelin

The first day of Geeked Week, September 16th began with a trailer for The Remarkable Life of Ibelin. The documentary by filmmaker Benjamin Ree will explore the life of Mats Steen, a Norwegian gamer who suffered from a degenerative disease called Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Steen, who was a huge part of the World of Warcraft community, sadly passed away at the age of 25 in 2014, his family was worried that his disease would keep him isolated however to their surprise Steen was able to form friendships across the world thanks to this digital medium. Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 Gets A Release Date

Next up fans were given a new trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2. Per the synopsis, the season will see our heroes work together to stop the Vampire Messiah, Erzsebet Báthory, before she can gain the power of the goddess Sekhmet. You can read the synopsis below:

Now joined by the legendary Alucard, Richter Belmont and his band of vampire hunters are in a desperate race against time. Erzsebet Báthory, the Vampire Messiah, who already seems invincible, seeks the full power of the goddess Sekhmet so she can plunge the world into endless darkness and terror.

The trailer also indicated a release window for the season, that being January 2025. You can watch the trailer below:

A One Piece x Cobra Kai Crossover Appears

Iñaki Godoy who plays Luffy in the One Piece Live Action visited the set of Cobra Kai where he met with many of the cast. Iñaki was given a Straw Hat Pirate Gi and got to fight alongside Xolo Maridueña. You can view the trip here:

New Spongebob Squarepants Mobile Game Announced

The newest addition to the Netflix Games service was announced. Spongebob Squarepants: Bubble Pop F.U.N. is a match-3 popping game featuring Spongebob in many of his iconic looks from the series. The synopsis reads as follows:

The Flying Dutchman is wreaking havoc on the beloved Bikini Bottom and filling all your favorite locales with a bevy of multicolored bubbles. Worst of all? These bubbles have trapped all the snails. Gary and his kind are expectedly distraught, mewing as they fall back to the seafloor. As the fearless SpongeBob, it’s up to you to return order to your pineapple under the sea.

‘Wolf King’ Animated Series Announced

Next up was the announcement of Wolf King, an animated series based on Curtis Jobling’s Wereworld novels. The series follows a shepherd boy named Drew Ferran who’s life is forever changed after discovering that he is the last known Wolf King. The synopsis is as follows:

Set in a world where mortal man is ruled over by the Werelords, we will meet a 16-year-old shepherd boy Drew Ferran, a teen whose life is changed forever when he discovers he’s the last surviving Wolf King – coming to Netflix in 2025.

Behind The Scenes of Uglies

We were given a behind the scenes look of how one of the scenes in Uglies was filmed. The scene is between Joey King’s Tally and Chase Stoke’s Peris where Peris becomes a “Pretty”. We were shown moments from the makeup department and on set. You can view the video below:

Opening Sequence for Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance Revealed

The opening sequence for Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance was released, the sequence lasts for 4 minutes and 32 seconds. The series is co-produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks and SAFEHOUSE. It is also the first of the franchise to be animated with Unreal Engine 5. You can read the synopsis below:

Eleven months into the One Year War in U.C.0079, top Zaku II pilot Captain Solari faces the Earth Federation’s new lethal weapon: the mobile suit Gundam.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance will stream on Netflix on October 17th.

Geeked Week Day 2, September 17th started with an announcement related to Roblox, in Netflix’s Nextworld Universe fans can play the experience to earn in-game cosmetics inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender, One Piece, Wednesday, and Squid Game. The Geeked Week event runs from September 16th 2024 – September 19th 2024.

Nextworld Universe is now available on Roblox.

The Cast of Cobra Kai Answer Burning Questions

The First Four Minutes of Twilight Of The Gods Revealed

The next announcement was an exclusive look at the first four minutes of Twilight Of The Gods, the adult animated series by Zack Snyder is based around Norse Mythology. The synopsis reads as follows:

Zack Snyder unleashes a bold and bloody vision of Norse mythology in this adult animated series about a warrior with an ax to grind against the gods.

New Clip From The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

A new clip from the upcoming animated film was released, it features a conversation between Geralt (Doug Cockle) and Jaskier (Joey Batey). This film is described by the synopsis:

Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. He must count on friends — old and new — to solve the mystery before the hostilities between the two kingdoms escalate into an all-out war.

Tomorrow And I Asks “What If?” In A Thai Setting

Tomorrow And I is an anthology series that combines the question “What If?” with futuristic technologies and Thai culture. The four episode series was shown in a sneak peek which showcased various concepts and locations including Space. You can watch the trailer below:

New Poster For Gyeongseong Creature Season 2

A new poster was released for the second season of Gyeongseong Creature. This South Korean horror drama follows the occupation of Gyeongseong (the old name for Seoul) by the Imperial Japanese Army Set in 1945 and the secret biological experiments performed on civilians which lead to the creation of a monster creature.

Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 premieres on Netflix on September 27th

Geeked Week Day 3, September 18th started with Jeff Ward, who plays Buggy The Clown in the live action One Piece series, gave fans a tour of the Season 2 set, We were introduced to many of the behind the scenes crew such as Costume Designer Kerry Barnard, Hair & Makeup Design Head Amanda Ross McDonald, Prop Master Robert Kruger, Production Designer Tom Hannam & Max Gottlieb. Many of the characters and locations were shown however many were also hidden to not spoil surprises for the upcoming Season 2. You can view the video below:

A new still from the final season of the Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos saga has been released. Where we last left off, Claudia is seen helping Aaravos in an attempt to increase the lifespan of her father, Viren. Additionally, Claudia performs a ritual to free Aaravos from his pearl prison, from that point he then sets his eyes on Xadia.

Dragon Prince: Mystery of Aaravos Seasons 1 – 6 are now streaming on Netflix, Season 7 premieres on December 19th.

The highly anticipated Squid Game received a new poster, additionally the cast which includes Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, and Wi Ha-jun look at fan theories on what could happen in the upcoming season. You can view the video below:

Squid Game Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix, Season 2 premieres on December 26th.
