More 'The Odyssey' Cast Members' Roles Have Been Revealed

The Odyssey is still many months away but the marketing has been in full effect since the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth, as it had a theatrically exclusive trailer. Now there’s some more as the Empire Magazine did a major piece about the film. Here are the roles of some of the cast members in The Odyssey as more roles have been revealed.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is based on Homer’s epic of the same name and is described as a mythic action epic. The film reportedly has a $250M budget which would tie the The Dark Knight Rises for Nolan’s biggest budget. The film was in production for 6 months and reportedly had a 91-day shoot.

Much has been made of the loaded cast of The Odyssey, at first when castings came in it was hard to figure out who was playing who but as set photos came in, the picture became clearer. There are some that are still up in the air, but there are more confirmed now with the release of Empire Magazine’s issue.

Here are all the confirmed roles for the cast of The Odyssey:

  • Matt Damon as Odysseus
  • Tom Holland as Telemachus
  • Anne Hathaway as Penelope (pictured above)
  • Zendaya as Athena
  • Robert Pattinson as Antinous

Odysseus is the father of Telemachus, the husband of Penelope, the king of Ithaca and the protagonist of The Odyssey. After the Trojan War, Odysseus is lost for many years and The Odyssey documents his struggle of a journey to make it back home to his wife, son, and kingdom.

Telemachus is the son of Odysseus. He barely knows his father, who left for Troy when he was just an infant. Telemachus is in search of his father. Anne Hathaway’s Penelope is Odysseus’ wife, she is the queen of Ithaca. She has many suitors after her, trying to marry her for the riches of the Kingdom of Ithaca. One of them is Robert Pattinson’s Antinous, who is considered to be the worst of the bunch of suitors.

Zendaya plays Athena, the daughter of Zeus and the goddess of reason, wisdom and war. She is a major part of the journey of both Odysseus and Telemachus as she guides them both.

John Leguizamo’s Eumaeus is described as a faithful servant, while Mia Goth’s Melantho is Athena’s maidservant.
