‘Minecraft’: Spring To Life Game Drop Coming March 25th

Today during the first Minecraft Live of 2025, the developers gave us a deep dive into everything to expect for this upcoming Game Drop.

Rather than the traditional summer update, which features loads of new content. As of September 2024, the decision was made to create “Game Drops,” smaller content updates that occur more frequently throughout the year.

What’s In The New Minecraft Spring To Life Game Drop?

The “Spring To Life” game drop plans to make existing biomes feel more alive and unique by introducing new animal types and new environmental elements. Here’s everything to expect:

• New Biome Specific Blocks – Each biome has had new blocks added to them to make each location feel more unique such as the Cactus Flowers found in the Desert biome and Firefly Bushes found in the Swamp.
• New Animal Types – In the “Spring To Life” update we’ll be introduced to “hot” and “cold” variants of cows, chickens and pigs. 
• New Sounds – This game drop introduces new sounds for the desert, firefly bush, leaf litter and wolves to enhance the immersion of each biome. Players are able to “move” sounds by removing and placing blocks such as the dead bush.
• New Spawn Egg Designs – As the number of mobs in the game increases, every creature’s spawn egg have undergone a visual update to better reflect the design of each mob.
• Cartographer Village Update – The Cartographer villager now sells more maps to encourage the exploration to other villages found on the overworld.

These additions are expected to make every Minecraft biome feel more immersive during playthroughs. The Minecraft: Spring to Life game drop launches as a free update next week on March 25th, on all platforms.
