‘Minecraft Dungeons II’ Unveils Animated Trailer & Release Date

Last Sunday saw the premiere of an all new animated trailer for Minecraft Dungeons II coupled with some snippets of gameplay at the June XBOX Games Showcase. You can view the video below:

The trailer, which lasts for 1 minute and 48 seconds, opens in a forest moments before night falls. We see our hero, a sword user facing off against these zombies before a wisp-like creature infuses itself with a creeper seemingly giving it a power boost. With only seconds left before the creeper explodes, our hero’s teammates arrive on the scene. A magic user manages to stun it just in time for a hammer user to send them flying. In the background more creepers, zombies and skeletons approach and some of them once again become infused with wisps.

Our hero jumps on the creeper’s head causing it to ignite and take out some of the mobs. The group stands ready to face off against even more of these infused mobs before we transition to gameplay that starts in the forest and then cuts to a dungeon. We’re then introduced to the inventory screen where players can equip various weapons, armour, artifacts and talismans. We also see pages for Collectibles, the Map, a Social page and Game page. Moving back to gameplay, the player is seen in a snowy mountain, swamp, facing off against a monstrosity golem, another forest, a dungeon, a village, another mountain where a goat can be seen, a sculk growth on the overworld surface, a dungeon entrance on the surface, a boss fight with a lava monstrosity golem and finally a shot with more wisp-infused zombies.

We transition back to animation, our heroes see the source of the wisps, a portal with sculk growing outwards from it. The ground begins to shake as a Twisted Warden approaches the group, they ready themselves to face off against this foe. We cut to the game’s logo where it’s revealed that Minecraft Dungeons II will launch on September 29th, 2026. The various platforms for the game are shown and a pre-order bonus is announced. For pre-ordering the game, players can unlock 2 hero skins, the “Twisted” cape, and the “Twisted Chicken” pet.

The final moments of the trailer shows a zombie wandering in the forest. Above another sculk growth, a portal begins to open. The Zombie looks at this portal with curiosity, we then appear to get sucked into the portal before the trailer fades to black.

What Is Minecraft Dungeons II About?

Minecraft Dungeons II, a sequel to 2020’s Minecraft Dungeons, will explore the mysteries of the Deep Dark as it seemingly spreads to the surface. Read the official synopsis below:

“Drop the pickaxe, grab a sword, and charge into a thrilling new adventure in Minecraft Dungeons II. Journey through unexplored lands and mysterious locations in a quest to stop a new evil from causing chaos in not one, but two worlds! Clash with menacing foes in explosive encounters and fight your way through hordes of mobs that will do everything in their power to stop you!”

Minecraft Dungeons II was first announced at the March 2026 Minecraft Live Showcase, where we received a teaser trailer showing that the overworld was saved… until it wasn’t. We eventually end up in the Deep Dark where a mysterious portal is shown with music being the key to activating it. During the Minecraft Live Bonus Showcase from Twitchcon, Creative Director Måns and Senior Producer Marie teased a little bit about the new biomes in the sequel and showed off concept art for the Twisted Warden, which we just saw in the latest trailer.

Minecraft Dungeons II is developed by Mojang. The game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 and PC (via Steam) on September 29th, 2026. Pre-Orders are available now at $29.99 USD for the Standard Edition and $49.99 USD for the Deluxe Edition.
