‘Marvel Rivals’ Cross-Progression Coming in Season 5

Cross-Progression has been a long requested feature in Marvel Rivals especially with bonus content being available on platforms such as PlayStation in the form of the PlayStation Plus packs and “Scarlet Spider” Spider-Man skin. At the start of August on the Marvel Rivals Discord, a suggestions channel was added where players could express their interest in features to be added in the game, one of which was cross-progression. Almost two months later with the recently released Dev Vision we now have our first details on how Cross-Progression will function.

Creative Director Guangguang talks about how the feature is ready but they will introduce a soft launch to a select group of players in Season 4.5 to try it out before the full launch in Season 5 which debuts in November. No specific details were given on how to be selected so it appears to be a random chance. 

When the feature launches players will be able to find “Account Linking” by heading to the Settings menu and scrolling to the bottom of the “Other” section. The Account Linking screen shows a “Loading Bay” which houses your current login account and you are given the option to log into the other platforms: Steam, PlayStation, Epic Games and Xbox. You are able to set a “main character” which will be used across all platforms and they can be switched after a cooldown. One fear noted by fans with cross-progression was how it’d affect the competitive side of Marvel Rivals, Guangguang explains that your rank and leaderboard position will be separate on each platform similarly to Overwatch 2.

While there was no mention of account merging, more details should be expected in the lead up to Season 5. Stay tuned for our guide on how to enable Cross-Progression.

Marvel Rivals is developed by NetEase Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. The game is available for free on PC, PlayStation 4 / 5 and the Xbox Series consoles. Cross-Progression soft launches for a select number of players on October 10th at 2:00 PM PT / 5:00 PM ET. The feature becomes fully enabled in Season 5 on November 14th.
