Mark Zuckerberg, the billionaire behind megacorporation Meta, which encompasses Facebook, Instagram and Threads, recently teamed up with one of the music industry’s biggest stars, T-Pain. And teamed up they did, with Zuckerberg and T-Pain forming Z-Pain, an amalgamation of the duo’s names.

The group came together to produce and cover Lil Jon’s “Get Low”, the classic club banger that first made waves in the early 2000s. The reason behind this eccentric song choice was that Zuckerberg met his future spouse Priscilla Chan when this song was playing, and the couple made it into a yearly tradition to the sing the song on the anniversary of their meeting. This year, Zuckerberg reached out to T-Pain and the duo collaborated on the song.

Z-Pain’s “Get Low” takes on a distinctive style, a style that doesn’t match with the bombastic lyrics in the original version of the song. It’s something that audiences and critics have pointed out and in turn, criticised. One notable critic, Anthony Fantano, of The Needle Drop, mocked the song in a recent video, making fun of Zuckerberg’s performance in particular, whilst still praising T-Pain.

However it may be received, “Get Low” is sure to make waves due to the outlandish fact that Mark Zuckerberg performed the song, which is sure to be present in meme culture. It does seem however, that Z-Pain is a one and done gimmick purely for the anniversary between Zuckerberg and Chan.

“Get Low” is performed by Mark Zuckerberg and T-Pain (as Z-Pain), originally performed by Lil Jon, and is now available to stream on YouTube and Spotify. Listen to the song via Spotify below:
