‘Legend Of Zelda’ 40th Anniversary Direct Set For Tomorrow
Here’s what we know about the upcoming showcase for one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises.
Another September has arrived which means its time for Nintendo to announce a Direct which coincidentally they’ve done today, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Legend Of Zelda franchise, there will be a standalone direct set for tomorrow.
The first game in the franchise, The Legend Of Zelda was released on February 21st, 1986 for the Famicom Disk System in Japan and August 22nd, 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System in the US.
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct is set for September 8th, 2026 at 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET and you can view it below:
The showcase will last for approximately 30 minutes, while we can’t say what will be shown we can make some assumptions.
Back in June we saw a teaser trailer for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake for the Nintendo Switch 2. This showcase could give us our first look at gameplay and a release date.
We are also waiting on the first trailer for the live-action The Legend Of Zelda movie starring Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason as Link and Princess Zelda respectively. The showcase could give the teaser alongside casting updates for the film which is set to hit theatres on April 30th, 2027.
Aside from those two projects it’s unclear what could be shown but regardless we won’t have to wait long.
The Legend of Zelda is created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. The 40th Anniversary Direct airs on September 8th, 2026 at 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET.
