Emmy Winner Kyle Chandler has reportedly been tapped for HBO’s Lanterns series.
Following a proposed shortlist earlier this month, consisting of Josh Brolin, Matthew McConaughey, Ewan McGregor, Timothy Olyphant, and Chris Pine, the list has reportedly been narrowed down to one. And it’s nobody on that list, with Friday Night Lights star Kyle Chandler reportedly entering talks with DC Studios to star in the HBO series Lanterns.
The news was broken by Deadline’s co-EIC Nellie Andreeva, who reported on the announcement on Monday morning (Sept. 23). The news was further corroborated by The Hollywood Reporter, with Borys Kit and Rick Porter confirming this news, but additionally saying that the actor had been cast (not only just in talks) in the upcoming DC series.
Kit also further added on his Twitter, that the deal for Chandler would not have a movie component, and would instead be limited to other media. This has added fuel to the fire in regards to fan theories about showrunner Chris Mundy, and EPs King and Lindelof, adapting the Parallax story from the comics, or something similar with Hal Jordan dying in the series.
Chandler has no prior history with DC, but can previously be seen in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, Ben Affleck’s Argo and Peter Jackson’s King Kong.
