Famous for his his video essays that analyze the content, form and structure of visual media and for directing films like Columbus and After Yang, Kogonada is about to surprise us once again with another drama of his, this time starring two very big stars: Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie, with Farrell previously working with him on After Yang.
This is a big movie for Kogonada with more eyes on stars Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie following their respective successes The Penguin and Barbie, both of which had a lot of critical praise. It is described as the following:
An imaginative tale of two strangers and the extraordinary emotional journey that connects them.
Despite being dated for release in a little over two months, the film has not received any form of promotion. So what’s the fuss here?
‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ Delayed To Fall
According to reliable film insider, Jeff Sneider, the film will not be making its slated release date and will be delayed to release later in the year during the Fall as it will apparently be a big awards film.
Sneider also predicts Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie for nods in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories for next year’s awards season. The film could see leads Farrell and Robbie be recognised at the Academy Awards, with both actors having extensive careers and filmographies to support this.
Even though the film is listed as a drama/comedy, there was an older rumour floating around that the film incorporated time travel, which would make sense considering that Kogonada has incorporated elements of sci-fi in a film before, that being After Yang.
