‘Jumanji 3’ First Look Image Revealed As Movie Enters Production

Here is the first look for Jumanji 3, coming to theaters in December 2026

Earlier this month, the cast of the next instalment in the Jumanji saga were seen in an official video showcasing a table read, with the entirety of the cast exclaiming the word “JUMANJI!” in celebration of the new film entering production. Now, Jumanji 3, directed by Jake Kasdan, has officially entered production per a new first look image, featuring the main cast of the film: Kevin Hart as Mouse, Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Dr. Smolder Bravestone and Jack Black as Professor Shelly Oberon.

The Jumanji franchise first sprang to life back in 1995’s Jumanji, which starred the late great Robin Williams, and revolved around a magic board game that had the ability to expunge the contents of the game into the real world. Zathura: A Space Adventure, directed by Jon Favreau and released in 2005, follows the same concept, set in the same continuity but as a standalone spin-off. It sees two brothers play a board game and suddenly they and their house are transported into outer space. The franchise was then revived after a 12 year hiatus with Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, which reintroduced Jumanji to theatres and sprang into a mega-franchise, largely due to the stacked and charismatic cast.

The new first look image is interesting as unlike the previous two films, Welcome To The Jungle and The Next Level, this still seems to see our protagonists in a city, which is a totally different route to the aforementioned movies.

Outside of the Jumanji franchise, Jake Kasdan has become a Dwayne Johnson collaborator as he also directed 2024’s Red One for Prime Video. That film starred Johnson as an elf seeking to free Santa (JK Simmons) after he had been captured with the help of a human thief (Chris Evans). It was poorly received and flopped at the worldwide box office.

Jumanji currently serves as one of Sony Pictures’ flagship franchises, alongside Spider-Man, which is currently shooting Spider-Man: Brand New Day and developing Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse, as well as films such as Ghostbusters and Bad Boys.

Jumanji 3 stars Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, and more. The film releases on the 11th of December, 2026.
