Development on Joker: Folie à Deux began in June 2022 with Todd Phillips confirming the title on June 7th 2022 via an Instagram post. A few days later on June 13th 2022, we would learn that Lady Gaga was cast in an undisclosed role (later revealed to be a take on Harleen Quinzel / Harley Quinn) and that the film will include musical elements.
Filming would take place between December 2022 and April 2023 in New York City, Los Angeles,Belleville, and New Jersey. The film recently had its premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival.

The synopsis is described as follows:
Joker: Folie À Deux finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that’s always been inside him.

Joker: Folie à Deux hits theatres on October 4th, 2024. Similarly, Joker had a release date on October 4th, 2019.
When Joker: Folie à Deux’s theatrical run ends it will be released on Max, however a release date has not been given at the time of writing.
