During the Universal Studios panel at CinemaCon, Blumhouse CEO, Jason Blum, came out on stage dressed up as the titular “Freddy” and presented the first teaser trailer for Five Nights At Freddy’s 2. The film is the follow-up to the highly successful breakout horror hit of 2023, which earned $297M at the box office, shattering expectations due to the built-in highly passionate fanbase, despite being released on Peacock on the same-day. You can watch the teaser below:

This latest installment in the franchise picks up after the events of the first film, which saw Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) and his sister, Abby (Piper Rubio), help the haunted animatronic band take down serial killer William Afton (Matthew Lillard).

This film, based on the second game of the same name, will take us to a brand new Freddy Fazbear’s establishment- one with a new cast of shiny Toy Animatronics. Those characters are the main focal point of this teaser, as we see them seemingly breaching the confines of their restaurant, bringing their terror to hospitals, homes, and local fairs.

Left out of this teaser, however, is the dilapidated Withered Animatronics. Fans fear not however, as during the 10th anniversary celebrations for the original game series some official behind-the-scenes photos were released, confirming the ruined band of characters will return.

Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, unlike its predecessor, will be receiving an exclusive theatrical release as well. The Peacock release of the first film did drive subscriptions up a ton for the platform, but Universal likely realized they left a lot of money on the table due to this.
