Adapting J.R.R Tolkien’s appendices of his Lord of the Rings books, the movie follows the story of Helm Hammerhand (Brian Cox) of Rohan and his family as they battle the sinister Dunlendings. The movie is set centuries before the original trilogy and its prequel trilogy, The Hobbit

And now, following an exclusive look at the Annecy Animation Festival in Annecy, France, the film has debuted its first trailer. In the trailer, we get our first in-depth looks at Brian Cox’s Helm Hammerhand, Gaia Wise’s Hèra, Miranda Otto’s Éowyn (who narrates the film), Luke Pasqualino’s Wulf, and an unnamed actor for Saruman (previously played by the late great Christopher Lee).

You can watch the trailer below:

On top of the trailer, it was also announced that the film will be at New York Comic Con, which takes place this October. We can speculate as to whether or not other Lord of the Rings films will also have a presence there, with Andy SerkisHunt for Gollum currently in development as well as several reported solo films for franchise characters.
