According to a new report, a new animated series, based on the character Deadman, is in the works at DC Studios.
James Gunn and Peter Safran made a promise to journalists at the very start of their DC Studios tenure, promising that DCU content will span all major mediums and formats, including the likes of animation. Of course, Creature Commandos is already slated for release but as more projects are revealed, we are yet to receive an official announcement for the next animated instalment.
Recently, a Blue Beetle animated series was revealed by trade publications but is yet to be acknowledged by DC Studios officially. This seems to be a similar case with a series revolving around one of DC’s darker characters… Deadman.
A new report from Matthew W. of Nexus Point News suggests that Deadman will be joining the DCU in an animated series. The series has yet to be greenlit and is yet to attach writers or a cast, but is in the early stages of development at DC Studios.
Deadman was created by Arnold Drake and Otto Binder in 1967 and has since become one of the most beloved dark characters in the DC comics universe. The character was an aerialist by the name of Boston Brand who was murdered and pseudo-saved by Hindu deity Rama Kushna, who placed him between life and death. He has the ability to possess others in order to fight the forces of evil.
James Gunn has previously posted Deadman to his Instagram out of context, leading many fans to theorise if he would adapt the character.
Deadman is currently in early development at DC Studios and DC Animation and will likely be produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
