Here’s everything you missed from the event.
‘Daredevil Born Again’ Gets A Release Date
Vincent D’Onofrio made the exciting announcement, revealing that the series will premiere on Disney+ on March 4th, 2025. The Marvel Television production will consist of nine episodes in its first season, the series will also retain its TV-MA age rating found in the original series Daredevil. When we last left Matt Murdock he was seen in 2022’s She-Hulk where he assisted Tatiana Maslany’s Jen in solving some cases and also falling in love with the titular hero. He ends his journey there by having dinner with Jennifer Walter’s family. Daredevil is also set to appear in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, however, the events of the animated series are set in an alternate universe and will not impact his story in Earth 616.
New Details On ‘Daredevil Born Again’
Starting off, Daredevil: Born Again producer Sana Amanat confirmed that Muse will be making an appearance in the series. We previously saw some murals of Daredevil and Kingpin at NYCC which were likely created by the character.
Muse is a Marvel character created by Charles Soule and Ron Garney. He first appeared in Daredevil (Vol. 5) #11(2016) and is described as a deranged artist who creates gruesome works of art using the blood and corpses of missing people and vigilantes.
After Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were welcomed on stage, comic book writers Frank Miller and Chris Soule revealed that they visited the set of Daredevil: Born Again where they revealed that many of the cast from the original series were returning, they paid special attention to Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson who play Karen Page and Foggy Nelson respectively.
Vincent D’Onofrio went on to talk about his and Charlie’s characters describing them as the following “they are on different paths but the way they feel about each other is intense” teasing that their rivalry will still be strong despite the amount of time that has passed in universe. Charlie then adds that “they have to find a way to reconcile” likely with the new threats that emerge.
When asked about Vincent’s performance as Wilson Fisk in 2021’s Hawkeye he described it as being weird due to the series’ lighter tone, “It was weird to go out of the darkness of our story into a lighter approach… playing the same guy in different circumstances”. The process was more comfortable in 2024’s Echo due to the darker nature of that series.
Charlie was asked about the yellow suit that made its appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, he expressed that while the costume decision was made by the higher-ups he was grateful that the outfit had three zippers, “You need three zippers” though he didn’t elaborate on the meaning behind this.
Charlie then goes on to talk about his new suit in Daredevil: Born Again, confirming that there will only be one version in the series and that the “Double Ds” will be something Matt Murdock will have to evolve towards.
“The one [costume] we have in this show is really cool – I hope we one day graduate to the DD”.
New Trailer Description
To end the panel attendees were treated to an exclusive trailer that was previously shown at D23. The trailer, summarized by Superhero Hype, is described as follows:
“D23’s Daredevil: Born Again trailer continues the tone established by the first three seasons that initially debuted on Netflix. Gone are the days when the series was being turned into a courtroom drama.
Instead, it brings back the vibe and cast from the original three seasons, including Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye, Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, and Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson, alongside Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock.
The D23 trailer showcases Matt Murdock’s wardrobe of Daredevil outfits. It features a heated confrontation between him and Castle, and another scene where Murdock warns Wilson Fisk. It also hints at the fate of Poindexter, who was spotted handcuffed in an orange prison outfit surrounded by guards.
The trailer doesn’t confirm whether the events of Born Again will continue from where Daredevil Season 3 left things. But Poindexter being held in prison does tease that. He is also set to don a version of the Bullseye suit, which was previously spotted in spoiler-filled set photos and videos.
The D23 Daredevil footage showed very little of Karen and Foggy. But it confirmed the presence of two new Marvel characters making their MCU debut. The first was White Tiger, who was previously spotted in set videos, while the second is the fan-favorite villain Muse, who was also reported to join the Disney+ show.
The Hector Ayala version of White Tiger, played by Kamar de los Reyes, showed up in costume. Meanwhile, Muse was initially teased with blood paintings before he also appeared in a comic-accurate look. Lastly, another surprising reveal from the Daredevil: Born Again trailer was the return of Kamala Khan’s father, Yusuf Khan, which could eventually lead viewers to hope for a Ms. Marvel cameo in the show.”
Thanks again to Superhero Hype for the description.
