Last week we saw Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) breaking free from her spell and with the threat from a former foe (Aubrey Plaza) and some extra convincing from a mysterious teen (Joe Locke), Agatha decides to walk down the witches road to regain her power. However, the road cannot be walked alone, so she goes on a quest with Teen by her side to recruit some less than willing allies to form a coven. Once formed the group performs the ballad to access the road and narrowly escape some new foes.

This episode saw Agatha Harkness and her newly formed coven make their way through this strange and spooky place known as The Witches Road. The environment especially stood out here, seeing all the different props that help to give the environment an eerie vibe. This episode also marked the introduction of the trials found on the road, beginning with the trial for the water witch, Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata). When the coven enters this test disguised as a modern home their outfits change to match the theme and  the escape room begins.

I adore everything about escape rooms, the riddles and puzzle solving really excite me so seeing these characters work their way through them was definitely entertaining. The countdown didn’t feel particularly threatening, especially compared to the hallucinations that the witches faced, those had more adrenaline inducing moments for me. Seeing the coven work together was a joy, however there’s still a long way ahead before they truly become a family, they still had disagreements and fights here and there which I expect to lessen as they face these trials together.
