Not much is clear about the plot from this first trailer, though its clear that Maggie plans on opening up the island to more survivors, whilst Negan will be further regressing back into his prime The Walking Dead days. The synopsis for the season reads as follows:
In season three, Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse, but when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?

Seen in the trailer as newcomers to the franchise are Jimmi Simpson and Raúl Castillo, who joined the cast of the series earlier this year. Jimmi Simpson is best known for his TV work having appeared in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Dark Matter (which returns for a second season in August), whilst Castillo most recently appeared in a supporting role in HBO’s Task season 1.
