‘Subnautica 2’ Early Access: Pre-Purchase & Pre-Load Available Now
Players can now purchase and download Subnautica 2 ahead of its launch on May 14th.
With less than 72 hours until Subnautica 2 launches in early access on May 14th, Unknown Worlds has just allowed players to pre-purchase the game. Players can purchase Subnautica 2 on the Epic Games Store or Steam (pre-purchase is not available on Xbox at the time of writing), with Steam users also having the ability to pre-load the game.
Subnautica 2 Early Access is available to purchase for $29.99 USD (regional pricing is in effect, so the game may cost less in your region). The preload, available exclusively on Steam, will require approximately 13 GB of storage.
What Is Subnautica 2 About?
Subnautica 2 is the third entry in the long-running underwater survival horror franchise. This title follows a group of Alterra employees who find themselves on an all-new planet that houses a new array of underwater mysteries and dangers. Read the official synopsis below:
“Driven from your home by ongoing conflict, Alterra offers you the chance at a new life. But as the colony ship CICADA shepherds you and your fellow Pioneers to your new home, something goes awry. Subnautica 2 is developed by Unknown Worlds. The game launches in Early Access for $29.99 USD on PC (Steam and Epic Games) and Xbox Series X|S on May 14th, 2026 at 11:00 AM EDT.
