'The Blair Witch Project' Remake Gets Director In Indie Horror Filmmaker Dylan Clark

The Blair Witch franchise is set to be revitalised, according to a new report from industry insider Daniel Richtman

The insider, who distributes information via his Patreon, revealed that studios Lionsgate and Blumhouse Productions have courted indie-horror director Dylan Clark to direct the upcoming fourth Blair Witch Project film. Clark is best known for his short films, which he releases on his YouTube channel for his fans to see, amassing over 171K subscribers and 20.3M views.

Dread Central has confirmed this report through alternate sources, citing that it is confirmed Clark will be taking on the role.

The Blair Witch Project first made waves back in 1999 when its guerilla-style marketing campaign brought the indie film into the limelight, convincing audiences that the stars of the film really went missing in the American forests. While those attached to the film did not like the fame it attracted or their lack of residuals regarding the legendary film, rights holder Lionsgate is moving forward with a remake.

Plot details aren’t yet made available, but we can expect the film to be found footage and likely relatively low budget.

Up next for Lionsgate and Blumhouse is the Saw reboot from James Wan who has regained control of the franchise in a joint venture with partner Jason Blum. This news follows the highly successful tenth film, Saw X, which released way back in 2023, and was soon followed by Saw XI facing troubles in pre-production, missing its 2025 release date.
