The latest trailer for DC Studios’ ‘Supergirl’ has arrived. Read our full article to learn more.
The second film in the DCU is nearly here. With the film now only a couple months out, Supergirl is beginning its main marketing push with a brand new trailer. You can watch the trailer here:
Based on the comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Supergirl follows Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock) as she sets out on a quest for revenge to save her beloved super-dog, Krypto. You can read the official plot synopsis below:
When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.
What Happens In The Supergirl Trailer?
The trailer opens on the interior of Kara’s ship as we get a voice over from Superman (David Corenswet). Clark explains that he is just leaving a message to check in and see when Supergirl is returning to Earth, worried that she won’t be able to “find her people.” Kara reaffirms his fear when she replies that she has no people as we get shots of the destruction of Krypton and the subsequent departure of Argo City. Kara gets blasted out of the city’s shield inside an escape pod as her father Zor-El (David Krumholtz) watches on. Back in the present day, Kara tells Krypto that home is wherever he is.

Set to the song “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” by Jimmy Ruffin, we get a look at the day to day life of Kara and Krypto. The pair share food off the same spoon, Supergirl hits the club, and Kara lounges out in the desert. The fun is out though as Krem (Matthias Schoenarts) arrives and shoots Krypto with a poison dart. Ruthye (Eve Ridley) explains that Krem and his gang carry the antidote on their person, and Krypto only has three days before the poison kills him.
Ruthye explains that Krem of the Yellow Hills is the person responsible for the death of her family, and she too is out for vengeance. The pair arrive at a floating bar where they find themselves ambushed by Krem’s gangsters, but Kara dispatches them single-handedly. Here it seems the heroes will meet a new ally, Lobo, played in the DCU by Jason Momoa.

The final half of the trailer is more action-oriented. We see Supergirl push back against a laser beam with her own heat vision as Kara explains to Ruthye that revenge won’t take her pain away. Lobo rides his Spacehog through a bunch of explosions and Krem tells Kara that her “Eyes are beautiful when [she cries]” because they carry “a lot of pain.” We end on some shots of a large scale battle as we see Kara shield Ruthye.
Alongside the trailer, a new poster was released. You can view it here:
Supergirl is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Rutheye Marye Knoll, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and David Corenswet as Superman. In theaters on June 26th.
