HBO ‘Harry Potter’ Series Debuts Trailer, Set For Christmas 2026 Release
Harry Potter will hit small screens sooner than they think with the HBO show releasing Christmas 2026. Watch the Harry Potter trailer inside.
Coming much earlier to TV’s near you than initially predicted, HBO’s Harry Potter Season 1 has just dropped its first teaser trailer, giving first proper looks at Harry, Hogwarts, and its ensemble cast of characters. Yesterday, HBO revealed an announcement teasing something being released today, which turned out to be a full-fledged teaser trailer.
The show will be adapting Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first book of seven by JK Rowling. The same book was adapted by Chris Columbus back in 2001 for Warner Bros. Pictures and went on to become a billion-dollar franchise that still has a cultural impact to this day.

Since then, transphobic comments by author JK Rowling have divided the community, drumming up controversy for an otherwise beloved saga. Now, the trailer for HBO’s TV adaptation of the books has been released, which you can view below:
The trailer shows audiences their first official looks at Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, McGonagall, Dumbledore, Snape, Malfoy and many more fan favourites. Audience reaction has been mixed, with some criticising the choice to cast Paapa Essiedu as Snape, recasting the role originated by Alan Rickman, whilst others love the new youthful look of the franchise.
HBO also revealed the release period for the series, announcing a Christmas 2026 release, which of course is suitable as Christmas is a major part of the books, with Harry opting to spend his holidays in the grand castle of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, rather than returning home to his abusive foster family.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snake, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Thallon as Quirrell, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, and Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley.
