‘LEGO Batman’ At The Game Awards: New Trailer, Release Date and More

Here’s everything you missed about Lego Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight at the 2025 Game Awards, including a trailer, release date, and deluxe edition details.

LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight is an upcoming open-world game and the next big entry from TT Games in collaboration with Warner Bros. Games. The reveal trailer, which premiered on August 19th, 2025 at Gamecom showcased various moments of Bruce Wayne/Batman’s life, such as training, facing off against the Joker, and giving a first look at an open-world Gothman akin to the Batman Arkham games (with an inspired combat style as well). Now there’s more info after The Game Awards featured LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight.

Since then we’ve received various snippets of information regarding character costumes, vehicles and even promotions with upcoming Batman LEGO sets, which give you gold variants of some in-game items. In the lead-up to the event, the official LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight social pages announced their presence at The Game Awards and on December 11th, 2025 we got a new Heroes & Villains Trailer, which you can view below:

The “LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – Official Heroes & Villains” Trailer showcased at The Game Awards, lasts for 1 minute and 48 seconds, opens in a forest with the Bat-Signal visible in the sky. The camera pans down, we see the Batmobile drive by and a sign that says “Arkham, 10 Days Since Last Breakout” with a prisoner hiding behind it.

The DC, Warner Bros. Games, and TT Games logos appear as we see the Batmobile approach Arkham Asylum, Joker’s laugh is heard as well. Joker is being sent to an interrogation room, a guard says “Make sure he stays secure at all times”. Finally the LEGO Logo appears and we cut to a cutscene, Joker pulls out a flower and asks “You want to see a Magic Trick?”. One guard is scared while the other claps in excitement. 

The LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight appears, Batman is seen on a rooftop while a narrator says “The city has become a breeding ground for suffering and injustice.” We see Commissioner Gordon having to deal with some of Joker’s Henchmen and The Penguin before Batman shows up. We cut to a brief gameplay segment of Batman beating up the henchman. The narrator is revealed to be Ra’s Al Ghul and he continues “It must be destroyed.”, we cut to Batman looking shocked.

Joker fires a rocket at Batman and Nightwing. We cut to Bruce entering a Chamber at Wayne Manor. A water tower explodes and we move on to Bruce walking  in the Bat Cave followed by a shot of some Bat Suits. Some thugs are about to attack a construction worker, Batman says “Let’s get to work” and we cut to him riding the BatCycle. We meet Catwoman for the first time who jumps rope with her whip before attacking a mannequin. She asks Batman, “Who are you?” and we see a snippet of Catwoman gameplay involving her using a laser pointer, which sends a cat to attack a henchman. Bruce in another scene says “I think we can help each other” and the two are seen teaming up.

Joker after seeing a news headline which says “Winger Terror In Gangland” says “This town deserves a better class of criminal.” “Protect the City” appears on screen followed by Batman and Robin meeting Two-Face at a carnival, he says “Good evening, Gotham. Join us in a celebration of absolute chaos.” Batman and Robin are then facing off against some henchman. We see Firefly shoot at the roof, creating an opening to fly away. Batgirl says “Someone’s gotta step up”, she throws a modified Batarang at a locked door and we see a glimpse of gameplay involving a hacking minigame. 

“Build The Legacy” appears on screen, we see one of Poison Ivy’s Venus Fly Traps before Robin making a joke, says “let’s get to the root of the problem” Batman then responds “We don’t do that” and Robin apologises. We see a glimpse of Robin gameplay, followed by The Penguin flying with his Umbrella. In an armored tank, Mr Freeze says “Tonight’s forecast: a freeze is coming”. Catwoman is seen playing a guitar on a giant speaker, and more Batgirl combat is shown. Bane says “This is my favorite part”, we see glimpses of a Batmobile, Nightwing, Batman & Commissioner Gordon on the Batcycle and the duo being shot at with a rocket launcher. A close-up of Joker’s laugh closes out the trailer, he begins coughing when the logo appears.

The game’s release date is announced, set for May 29th, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC with pre-orders available now. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game will launch at a later date. The video then announces that pre-ordering the game gives you “The Dark Knight Returns” Batsuit and Deluxe Edition Owners get 3 Days Early Launch Access, meaning that Deluxe Edition Owners can play the game on May 26th, 2026.

Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a brand-new open world action adventure video game that invites players to embark on Bruce Wayne’s epic journey to become the hero of Gotham City, inspired by decades of Batman films, television, comic books, and games, and jam-packed with Batman nostalgia, DC lore, and TT Games’ signature brand of fun-filled LEGO humor.

LEGO Batman Standard And Deluxe Editions Explained

Players can now pre-order one of two LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight editions, Standard and Deluxe.

The Standard Edition, which costs $69.99 USD includes the Full Base Game. Those who pre-order the Standard Edition also unlock the previously mentioned “The Dark Knight Returns” Batsuit.

The Deluxe Edition, which costs $89.99 USD includes the Full Base Game and a number of DLC. Wave 1 of the DLC, The Legacy Collection, consists of the Arkham Trilogy Pack, Party Music Pack and Batman Beyond Pack. Each pack includes 7 Suits (1 For Each of the Original Playable Characters), 1 New Batmobile and 5 Batcave Props. The Image above shows our first look at the Arkham Trilogy Pack Batmobile and Suits for Catwoman and Batman. The first look at the Party Music Pack Batmobile and Suits for Batgirl and Batman. Finally, the first look at the Batman Beyond Pack Batmobile and Suits for Robin and Batman. The Legacy Collection of DLC will be available at Launch.

Next up is the Mayhem Collection which will be released in September 2026. Joker and Harley Quinn will become playable in this expansion alongside a new Story Mission which seemingly begins with the two breaking out of Arkham Asylum and the new “Mayhem Mode”. Also part of the Mayhem Collection is a Sinister Pack which includes 7 Suits (1 For Each of the Original Playable Characters), 1 New Batmobile and 5 Batcave Props.

Last but not least, players who pre-order the LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Deluxe Edition will be able to play the game three days earlier on May 26th, 2026.

In addition to the previously announced Gold Variants for the Batman & Robin, Batman V Superman and The Batman Batmobiles which can be obtained by purchasing the respective Batman LEGO Sets. Players who purchase the “Batman™ Logo” LEGO Set will be able to unlock a “Golden Knight” Batsuit in-game. The LEGO Sets mentioned above all release on March 1st, 2026, Each Batmobile Set costs $29.99 USD while the Batman Logo costs $79.99 USD.

LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight is developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros Games. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) on May 29th, 2026 (or May 26th with the Deluxe Edition of the game). The Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date will be announced much later.
