‘Fortnite’ Sidekicks Arrive In ‘The Simpsons’ Season
Epic Games has revealed their new line of cosmetics which feature furry friends to join you in the game modes.
Today Epic Games has announced a new cosmetic type debuting in the next Fortnite season. Sidekicks are pets that you can play alongside in the various Fortnite game modes which include Battle Royale, Save The World, LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival and Creative maps (if the Island Developer has enabled Sidekicks in their island). Sidekicks are purely cosmetic; they cannot take damage in any mode. Instead, they interact with the world around you and you can interact with them using Sidekick emotes.
Players can select different physical traits for their sidekick, which will become permanent (to select a different trait players will have to purchase that sidekick again from the item shop). Additionally, Sidekicks can be given a name (either custom or pre-made) and accessories both of which can be changed at any time. Accessories such as hats and hoodies can be purchased with Sidekick Points, a new currency earned by spending time with your new friend.
As mentioned above, Sidekicks will debut in the next season of Fortnite. The Simpsons themed season debuts on November 1st at 5 PM ET. The first companion Peels, a dog inspired by the Peely skin, can be unlocked through the upcoming Battle Pass with more Sidekicks including Bonesy, Spike, and Lil’ Raptor becoming available in the item shop on November 7th. Players who own the Bonesy Back Bling from the Chapter 1, Season 6 pass will also unlock the sidekick for free.
The Sidekicks thumbnail also indicates that Sidekicks, based on Fishsticks and Doggo will also be made available at a later date. Cat Sidekicks will arrive later as well. Pricing for Sidekicks has been revealed in a new tutorial video, in the video we learn that pricing ranges from 1200 – 1500 V-Bucks. With the inclusion of 50 V-Bucks increments we can say that Sidekicks start from approximately $10.00 USD.
Fortnite is developed by Epic Games and is available for free on all gaming platforms. Sidekicks will debut on November 1st in Chapter 6, Mini Season 2 Battle Pass followed by the Item Shop on November 7th.
