Robert Pattinson To Star In ‘Altered States’ Remake, Directed By Trey Edward Shults
Robert Pattinson is reportedly set star in a remake of ‘Altered States’, directed by Waves director Trey Edward Shults, for Warner Bros.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest actors of his generation, Robert Pattinson is now being pinned as the “last true movie star” following success with his latest film Mickey 17. The actor has been garnering a lot of critical praise in the past ten years, especially this current decade having worked with auteurs like Christopher Nolan on Tenet and Bong Joon-ho on Mickey 17, with more yet to come.
He seems to be heavily in demand, with him being attached to several high profile projects from a number of popular filmmakers including Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love, co-starring Jennifer Lawrence, and Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama, co-starring Zendaya, both releasing later this year. He is also currently filming two projects: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime; and will be filming Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II later this year. Now, he is reported to add yet another movie to his busy schedule.
Robert Pattinson To Star In Trey Edward Shults’ Remake Of ‘Altered States’
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Robert Pattinson will be starring in Trey Edward Shults’ next film for Warner Bros., a remake of Ken Russell’s 1980 film Altered States starring William Hurt. The sci-fi horror followed a research scientist who explores the boundaries and frontiers of consciousness by using sensory deprivation and hallucinogenic mixtures from Native American shamans with him exploring these altered states of consciousness finding that memory, time, and perhaps reality itself are states of mind.
Trey Edward Shults is famously known for directing the 2019 romance drama Waves, which followed a journey of a suburban African American family as they navigate love, forgiveness and coming together in the wake of a tragic loss. His upcoming film Hurry Up Tomorrow releases on May 16th. That one is a feature film made for Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye’s latest album with the same name, with the singer attached as the lead star, supported by Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan.

With Pattinson’s busy schedule, it can be deduced Altered States will begin production sometime next year, possibly aiming for a 2027 release.
