‘Better Man’ Digital Release Date Revealed

The digital release date for Better Man has reportedly been revealed.

Better Man, which chronicles the life and career of British pop icon Robbie Williams, has sparked significant discussion online, particularly among American audiences unfamiliar with the singer. Many have questioned the need for a biopic about someone they don’t consider globally famous, leading to widespread debates about cultural differences in celebrity recognition. Despite this scepticism, the film has been remarkably well-received by critics and audiences familiar with Williams and even those who didn’t know him until they watched the movie. It has also been praised for its heartfelt portrayal of his life, struggles, and triumphs in a confrontingly honest way, with the movie playing his story exactly as it was without misleading the audience with a more well adjusted narrative and painting him to be a more favourable or innocent person as well as its inventive approach to the traditional music biopic.

With a hefty $110 million budget, Better Man represents a major gamble for Paramount, aiming to appeal to international audiences who hold Williams in high regard. However, the movie has struggled at the box office, falling well short of expectations. Paramount is now pinning its hopes on the film finding a second life on digital platforms, where it could attract a cult audience and connect with viewers who missed it in theaters. The movie’s reception suggests it has the potential to resonate deeply with fans of Williams and those who appreciate compelling, character-driven stories, as well as those who appreciate films with a monkey protagonist.

While the online discourse questioning the film’s necessity has been loud, it has only added to the film’s visibility, inadvertently amplifying interest in Better Man. The combination of Robbie Williams’ enduring international fanbase and the movie’s strong storytelling might yet give it the recognition and audience it deserves over time, even if its theatrical run has been disappointing.

When Will ‘Better Man’ Release On Digital?

According to our friends at DVDreleasedates, Better Man will be released on digital on February 11th, just over a month and a half after the original limited release date. This is also a month after the wide release date, meaning that Paramount has given it its time in the cinema and not retreated within a few weeks despite the concerning numbers. 

After the limited release of the movie flopped massively, it’s surprising that Paramount Pictures decided to go ahead with a wide release at all. In its opening weekend, the movie grossed just $1.1 million – a terrible opening for a movie that deserves better. This is even less than The Brutalist, which earned $1.39 million on just 68 screens in comparison to Better Man’s 1,291 screens in North America alone. 

Considering these abysmal numbers, it’s possible that Paramount scraps their planned digital release date and drops it even earlier in order to try and pick up some quick numbers on home release instead of watching their film struggle and flail in the waters of the box office.

The film was written by Michael Gracey and Simon Gleeson and was directed by Michael Gracey and is now playing in theatres worldwide courtesy of Paramount Pictures and it’s distribution partners.
