‘Dune: Messiah’ Reportedly Filming This September In Hungary
‘Dune: Messiah,’ the next instalment in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise starring Timothée Chalamet, will reportedly begin filming in September this year.
Dune: Part Two was released in March last year and secured $700M at the worldwide box office alongside high critical acclaim from both audiences and critics, forecasting to snag a few nominations at the 97th Academy Awards in Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, and Best Makeup & Hairstyling.
It was reported earlier that Denis Villeneuve is gearing up to begin production on the final part this year, hinting towards the fall and aiming for a 2026 release. He has also shared many times that this will be the final instalment in the franchise that he’ll be directing so that he can direct some of his personal passion projects afterward.

When And Where Is Dune: Messiah Filming?
According to The Budapest Reporter, Dune: Messiah will be filming in Budapest, Hungary, in September this year and aiming for a 2026 December release date, even though things could change in terms of the latter as post-production takes a lot of time on these films and Dune: Part Two was originally set to release in November 2023 but was delayed to March 2024.
It has also been reported earlier that La La Land, Babylon, and Saltburn cinematographer Linus Sandgren will be the director of photography on Dune: Messiah instead of Greig Fraser, who shot the previous two Dune films. This was mostly because of Fraser working on Matt Reeves’ The Batman – Part II instead, which will begin production around the same time as Dune: Messiah.

Dune: Messiah is directed by Denis Villeneuve and stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
