After a very long and hard-fought year with a title race that went all the way to the final in Abu Dhabi, McLaren has officially won the title of the F1 2024 Constructors Championship, thanks to a strong performance from racers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.

McLaren has claimed the 2024 Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship, a landmark achievement that solidifies their return to the sport’s pinnacle after more than two decades. Dominating across the season with their driver duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, the team showcased unparalleled consistency, blending precision engineering with outstanding driver performance. This victory highlights the fruits of McLaren’s long-term strategy, marked by significant investments in their technical team and facilities, as well as bold tactical decisions on race days.

The title race saw fierce challenges from Ferrari and Red Bull, with even Mercedes starting to show strength at various points throughout the season, but McLaren’s innovative upgrades and race pace proved insurmountable. Norris, now a leading force in the sport, and Piastri, the rising star, delivered key performances that brought vital points at every crucial juncture. This championship not only ends McLaren’s championship drought but also sets a new benchmark for excellence in the hybrid era of Formula 1, cementing its status as a powerhouse ready to dominate for years to come. Fans and pundits alike herald this as the dawn of a new golden era for the historic team.

The 2024 Formula 1 season has been defined by the electrifying rivalry between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, as Norris’s McLaren emerges as the most dominant car of the year. With McLaren’s engineering brilliance delivering unparalleled speed and handling, Norris has consistently challenged Verstappen’s supremacy on the grid. Each race has brought dramatic battles, with Norris claiming pivotal wins in Singapore and the Netherlands, while Verstappen’s precision earned him victories in Brazil and Qatar. Their clashes, including a controversial collision at the Austrian Grand Prix, have intensified the rivalry, revealing the fierce determination of both drivers to outshine the other.

Whilst McLaren have dominated the constructors due to the skill and consistency of both of their drivers, Red Bull were out of the constructors fight a long time ago because of Sergio Perez, who’s inconsistency and lack of ability meant that the responsibility was almost entirely on Max, who carried to team to a drivers championship and P3 in the Constructors. Max’s ability to pull off amazing races and results like this with a car that isn’t even in the top 3 fastest of the year proves that he is not only the best driver on the grid, but one of the best of all time.

The 2024 Constructors’ Championship reached its climax in dramatic fashion at the final race, with McLaren narrowly defeating Ferrari after a season-long battle that captivated fans. The rivalry between the two teams was relentless, defined by contrasting strengths: Ferrari’s initial dominance with their exceptional straight-line speed and McLaren’s mid-season resurgence powered by impressive upgrades and consistent performance. Both teams brought their best to the grid, with drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz delivering remarkable performances for Ferrari, while Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri spearheaded McLaren’s campaign.

The finale saw Ferrari narrowly behind in the standings, but strategic missteps, as well as many grid place penalties for Leclerc before the race, and tire degradation, cost them crucial points, allowing McLaren to clinch the title by a razor-thin margin. It was a heartbreaking end for Ferrari, whose drivers fought valiantly but were ultimately outpaced by McLaren’s superior race execution.

After a first-lap collision between Verstappen and Piastri saw Oscar fall all the way down to last place in the race and after receiving a 10-second penalty for a hit into the back of Franco Colapinto, he only managed to clinch 1 point as he finished in P10. It was heating up as Leclerc and Sainz filled up the final spots on the podium but Lando Norris stayed strong and maintained his lead to bring back a strong 25 points for McLaren and cement them as the winners of the 2024 Constructors Championship.

Despite the loss, Ferrari’s return to form was a testament to their resilience and commitment to challenging at the top. McLaren’s victory, their first constructors’ title in over two decades, symbolised the culmination of their meticulous development and strategic brilliance, cementing their place as a dominant force in Formula 1.

The heat is on for next year as McLaren will be fighting to retain their title against Red Bull and Ferrari, who have the newly formed duo of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton – a powerhouse that is going to be very tough to defeat.
