New Trailer For ‘Dune: Prophecy’ Reveals Plans Within Plans

The newest trailer for Dune: Prophecy has been released and with it, we finally have the official premiere date.

The series, mostly based on the book Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, follows Vayla (Emily Watson) and Tula Harkonnen (Olivia Williams) as they establish the Sisterhood of the Bene Gesserit 10,000 years before the events of Dune. At New York Comic Con earlier this week, a new trailer was released for the show.

You can watch the full trailer here:

This trailer gives us our first glimpses of Arrakis and the religiously significant sandworms. While it is still not confirmed to be canon to Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films, we also get a look at a Heighliner, which while not an exact match, does follow the same design language and could be easily interpreted as an older model of the space-folding vessel.

Another planet with a big focus in the trailer is a garden port-esque planet. We speculate that this could be Rossak from the novel. Rossak is significant to the Sisterhood as that is where they discovered the key to unlocking the Other Memories, the power that Lady Jessica Atreides possesses after she becomes the Reverend Mother on Arrakis.

We are also introduced to Desmond Hart (Travis Fimmel), a character who was created just for this show and seems to be a confidant (maybe the first truthsayer?) of Mark Strong’s Emperor Javvico Corrino. We also get a small look at what appears to be a Salusan Bull in a forest, the same animal that slayed Paul Atreides’ bullfighting Grandfather.

The show’s logline reads as follows:

“From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, DUNE: PROPHECY follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. DUNE: PROPHECY is inspired by the novel SISTERHOOD OF DUNE, written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.”
