DC Studios co-head James Gunn has sheepishly hinted at a possible first trailer for Superman releasing in late 2024.
Despite outright answering “No” to a query regarding whether the Superman trailer would be released in 2024 back in early January of this year, James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy films and co-CEO of DC Studios, has seemingly changed his mind in a new Threads post.
Two days ago, on October 11th, 2024, Threads user theeonlyme asked James Gunn “Are we getting a Superman teaser or trailer before the end of the year?”

Gunn cryptically teased a possible release before the end of the year in a responsive thinking emoji. This response brings a definite “No” into an ambiguous tease, with the leap into ambiguity indicating a solid chance for a trailer release ahead of the year.
DC Studios at CCXP Brazil 2024?
David Corenswet and his stylist recently appeared on the Manly Things (sort of) Podcast and revealed that Superman promotion would begin in the Southern Hemisphere at the end of 2024. CCXP, an event that takes place in Brazil starting December 5th, and has previously had announcements from major franchises take place there in the past, could be the home of a trailer reveal for Superman.
Additionally, Creature Commandos releases on December 5th, making it the perfect opportunity for DC Studios to attend CCXP to promote the upcoming Max animated series and a perfect guise to promote the first DC Studios narrative feature.
Superman stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Edi Gathegi as Mr Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabel Merced as Hawkgirl, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. The film releases in theatres worldwide beginning July 11, 2025.
DC Studios has currently released Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, and HBO’s ongoing The Penguin series, which releases its fourth episode on HBO and Max on Sunday, October 13, at 9 PM ET.
